Morning Show's Rx Fall Rx For a Younger Heart!

Eat Soup To Boost Heart Health!

If you caught this morning's "Today" show cooking segment, then you know it
was all about soup. Butternut squash soup to be exact, and if you're one
who avoids the Fall staple, you're really missing out.
On what, you ask?
A stronger heart. That's right, hard-shelled foods like butternut and acorn squash and
spaghetti squash (and even yellow and zucchini) can lower your heart disease risk
by a whopping 60%. All of these veggies are rich in nutrients that break down
inflammatory wastes in blood vessels before they van damage artery walls.

And if you need a recipe for butternut squash soup you can go online to
Google.com or AllRecipes.com or you can look below...
Recipe for Chilled Apple Butternut Squash Soup!
Ingredients:

1 Tbs. butter
1 Tbs. olive oil
2 onions, chopped and diced
1 tsp. chipolte chile powder or cayenne powder
2 lbs. butternut squash, peeled, cut into chunks
1 lb. apples, cored and cut into chunks
1 cup apple juice
1 cup chicken broth, plus another few Tbs.
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
Sour cream, 1 container, (optional)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Directions:

In a large pot, heat butter and oil over medium to low heat. Add the onions
and chile powder, cook, stirring until onions are tender about 10 minutes.
Add remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Cover-cook over low heat, stirring
occasionally, until apples and squash are very soft, about 20 to 30 mins.
Cool--puree the apples and squash until smooth. Return to pot; thin the soup
out chicken broth (1 or 2 cups) until you get the texture you want.
You can eat it warm, or allow to cool for a few hrs. and eat it this way.
And if you like--place a Tbs. of sour cream on top and stir it in.
That's it, this should be enough for 6 to 8 servings.

And lastly, stock up on apples this Fall season, why?
They also keep the heart in tip-top shape by helping to lower cholesterol

levels. Say goodbye to statins and hello to apples.

Good Luck!

Hollywood's Thanksgiving Dish Rx For Your Skin!

Prevent Breakouts With A Side Dish!

You may think most stars have perfect skin.
Some do, some don't, many suffer from the same breakouts
and blemishes, just like regular folk. Why does it happen?
Stress, sun damage, hereditary, reactions from certain foods and
of course, sweets. And with the holidays in full swing, many
stars and normal folks will be suffering from breakouts.
But  wait, there's something you can do to reduce the number of
breakouts and it may be sitting on your table this Thanksgiving.
What is it?
Cranberries.

That's right- as you may know, some other Winter foods
can help your skin look it's best, but today, cranberries
are front and center.
Cranberries contain a compound that kills blemish-causing
bacteria and reduces the inflammation in your system.
Another benefit from the red gems: They'll help keep the number
of cavities down and keep your gums in tip-top shape.
(Just watch the amount of sugar you add).

Now on to the Cranberry Breakout Reducer Sauce!
Ingredients:
2 tbsps. of cranberry juice, take some from cooked cranberries

or use some from bottled cranberry juice (no-sugar added)
Ingredients:
1/2 cup witch hazel, (find it at drugstores or supermarkets)
Pour both items into a clean bottle and shake.
To apply, just wash your face, shake the bottle and then put some
of the Cranberry toner onto a cottonball and pat it all over your face.
Place the unused portion in the refrigerator, it should stay for 2 wks.
After 2 wks, make a new batch.

Do this twice a week, along with following a sensible diet and
decrease the stress in your life, and you too, could have skin that
looks as good as any star on the big screen.

And if you want to know how to make your skin youthful and vibrant,

head to SupermarketRxs@typepad.com. once you get there, you'll see
a recipe for a butternut squash facial.

Good Luck!
