Hollywood's Rxs For Getting Fit This Summer!

Water Sports For a Better Body!

In Hollywood it's certainly a lot easier to get fit and stay fit,
and if you have money, it's definitely easier and if you have
money and live in mostly sunny Hollywood, getting fit
by and on the water is certainly a whole lot easier.

If you enjoy water sports and have access to a lake,

pond or ocean this time of year, by all means take advantage.
Why?
Celebrity-trainer Nathan Mellalieu says that certain water sports
can help you sculpt the body of your dreams.

That's right, he says that sports like...
kayaking and paddle boarding can work on specific parts of the body.

Need more proof?
Okay then....
a) Body Boarding-
Helps firm arms, especially the upper arms. Get rid of that batman look
going on by body-boarding.
To make it more effective: Focus on pulling your belly button in

toward your spine as you ride the waves to activate the ab muscles.
b) Paddle-Boating-
Trim your thighs by peddling all over the lake.
A problem area for so many women, and if lunges, squats
and long walks aren't doing any good, try this.
To make it more effective: Pedal backwards every few minutes.

Doing this engages the rear, giving you that Jessica Biel or Alba booty.
c) Kayaking-
Difficult for someone just starting out, but stick with it and you
can sculpt your shoulders and back.
It's rumored that Dancing with the Stars main dancer
Katrina Smirnoff loves to use a kayak.

This may explain why she looks so good in those backless
dresses, (and of course 6 hrs. of dancing everyday)

To make it more effective: Get more of your waist involved by
extending  and straightening your arms as you paddle.
d) Paddle-Boarding-
Cut that waist down to size with this water-sport.

All of that turning and twisting will certainly
work on your waist.

To make it more effective
Switch hands when paddling and move your up and down on the

paddles to make it a little more difficult.
e) Honorable mentions-
Beach volleyball--
help you tone all over, and the constant running (on the beach)
also help you improve your body.
Surfing-
Balancing yourself on a surfboard will pay dividends especially

as you get older and worry about falling and breaking a hip.
It also helps you become stronger, lifting that board to and from the
water.

Walking and jogging on the beach-
It's certainly not the same as walking a gym floor or cement
and if you have'n't worked out in a while, it's best you start slowly.
Many have twisted, sprained and broken bones jogging on the beach barefoot.

That's it- remember if you have access to water this Summer,
take advantage of it. Your mind, body and soul will thank you.

Good Luck!

If you're concerned about the Zika virus affecting you and your family
that's understandable, but what
about your pets?
Yes, mosquitoes love nibbling on
pets as well. If you want a natural

repellent that won't harm your pet's health or your health,  look to your right.
The recycled bag to your right
has a natural repellent right on the

The Animal Planet's Rxs For Better Health!

                      Watch The Puppy Bowl!

This Sunday will be the 48th Superbowl for most
of the World, and for those who don't give a hoot--
there's "The Puppy Bowl."

Yes, you know that annual cute-fest of puppies on
the Animal Planet channel.
If you are a fan and think you're only looking at
cute puppies, you're wrong.

Wrong?
That's right- looking at, playing with or caring for
puppies (or kittens) can do a number of things to boost
your health. Things like...

a) Boost Memory-
Need to memorize something?
Look at a pet or two frolicking and then memorize your
school work or a project from work.
b) Control Pain-

Again, looking at pets playing or getting involved
with the playing yourself, helps ease the pain you may be feeling.
Looking at pets playing helps take your mind off of the pain you may
be going through.
c) Lower Anxiety Levels-
Just like helping to ease aches and pain, people who work,
play or walk animals report lower anxiety levels.
Again, animals help take your mind off of your problems.
d) Heart Health-
Cut heart attack risk by 35% by having a pet around.

Dogs help lower stress levels and if you walk them
a few times a week, that also keeps your heart in

tip-top shape.
e) Kids and Allergies-
Concerned about kids and allergies?
You may want to think about getting a pet.
Early exposure to pet dander helps prevent
the immune system from overreacting to the potential

allergens later on down the road.

That's it- 5 tips on why you must get involved
with pets. And one thing--a lot of the pets you'll see
on "The Puppy Bowl" are up for adoption.

Good Luck!
