The Animal Planet's Rxs For Better Health!

                      Watch The Puppy Bowl!

This Sunday will be the 48th Superbowl for most
of the World, and for those who don't give a hoot--
there's "The Puppy Bowl."

Yes, you know that annual cute-fest of puppies on
the Animal Planet channel.
If you are a fan and think you're only looking at
cute puppies, you're wrong.

Wrong?
That's right- looking at, playing with or caring for
puppies (or kittens) can do a number of things to boost
your health. Things like...

a) Boost Memory-
Need to memorize something?
Look at a pet or two frolicking and then memorize your
school work or a project from work.
b) Control Pain-

Again, looking at pets playing or getting involved
with the playing yourself, helps ease the pain you may be feeling.
Looking at pets playing helps take your mind off of the pain you may
be going through.
c) Lower Anxiety Levels-
Just like helping to ease aches and pain, people who work,
play or walk animals report lower anxiety levels.
Again, animals help take your mind off of your problems.
d) Heart Health-
Cut heart attack risk by 35% by having a pet around.

Dogs help lower stress levels and if you walk them
a few times a week, that also keeps your heart in

tip-top shape.
e) Kids and Allergies-
Concerned about kids and allergies?
You may want to think about getting a pet.
Early exposure to pet dander helps prevent
the immune system from overreacting to the potential

allergens later on down the road.

That's it- 5 tips on why you must get involved
with pets. And one thing--a lot of the pets you'll see
on "The Puppy Bowl" are up for adoption.

Good Luck!

Oprah's Rx For Reducing Stress!

                     Reduce Your Stress Levels!

Are you overwhelmed with stress?
How do you lower the stress in your life?
With a bowl or two of Mac & Cheese?
Do you run,walk or bike?
Do you call a trusted friend or relative?

Well, if you're not into Mac & Cheese or running
or calling your sister, then you may be able to watch
something on T.V. or on your computer.
That something?
Watching small animals frolic and play like there's no tomorrow.

Why animals?

Seeing a bunch of kittens or puppies playing is a great way to
calm down and get immersed in their shenanigans, it helps you forget
your troubles.
And new research says "animal watching" may be more effective than
playing video games (also a stress reliever).

So, next time, you feel overwhelmed or stressed about bills,

traffic or unruly kids, remember the small animals.
Watch Animal Planet, Sat. night at 9:00 pm.
The show- "Too Cute"!
And if you miss it on Animal Planet, Oprah had the good sense to

show the reruns on her "Own" network.

Good Luck!
