Reality Star's Rx For New Year's Eve Cocktails!

Go Wheat-Free For The New Year!

You may be familiar with reality star Bethenny Frankel's business
venture called "Skinny Girl" cocktails.
Well, someone out there decided that since some alcohol contains
wheat, it's time for cocktails (like our meals) to go wheat-free.
And if you're already wheat-free or plan on going wheat-free in the
new year, here are 3 drinks that are "wheat-free".

Drink no. 1-
A Lemon-Thyme Sparkler!
Use champagne to make this drink, and since champagne is wheat-free,

you may want to make this to ring in the new year.
To make-
In a pot, heat 1/2 cup xylitol, 1/2 cup water and 5 sprigs of thyme.
Let the xylitol  dissolve, remove the thyme and let cool.
And to finish this special cocktail- combine 4 oz. champagne,
1 Tbs. lemon juice (fresh lemon juice) and a tsp. of the thyme syrup
in a cocktail glass, stir well and add a slice of lemon (for garnish).
Look for xylitol at health-food stores.

Drink no. 2-
A Blood Orange Margarita-
This is a tangy, wheat-free drink.

To make--
Combine fresh blood orange juice- 6 oz. along with 4 oz. tequila. 2 oz. of triple sec,

some stevia (to taste) and the juice of 1 fresh lime. Stir well.
Serve over ice, enough for 4 servings.
Find blood oranges at larger supermarkets.

And lastly, to help you get to sleep, try this cocktail.
Drink no. 3-
An Orange Spiced Mulled Wine-
Great as a sleep aid or really cold nights.
To make-
In a small pot over low heat, combine 1 btl. of Cabernet Sauvignon, (750 mil)
6 cloves, 1 cinnamon stick, the zest and juice of 1 orange and xylitol, 1/4 cup.
Make sure to clean peel thoroughly as it may contain pesticides.
Simmer for 30 minutes, strain and pour into 6 glasses. Drink while warm.

That's it- 3 cocktails that are great tasting and wheat-free.

Good Luck!

One last tip-
Make sure to get a head start on Christmas 2016 and better health, how?
By using the whole pine (or Christmas) tree to improve your health.
That's right, head to Amazon.com/the kindle store and download...see title to the
right.
Learn how the needles, the pine cones, the nuts, (pine nuts)
the bark and the scent of a pine tree (or wreath) can
improve heart health, conquer those cravings, overcome
jet lag, cure indoor allergies, lower stress levels
and alleviate the effects of a cold.

Kathy Griffin's Rx For Storing Christmas Ornaments!

                          Put Away Your Ornaments!

Kathy Griffin, just spent New Year's Eve with Anderson Cooper.
And today: It's time to put away the Christmas tree and ornaments.
We're not sure if Ms. Griffin has a tree or if she puts it up herself.
One thing we do know, that putting away the ornaments
this way is something Kathy may do as well.

How would she put the ornaments away?
She'd placed them in cardboard wine boxes.

Why wine boxes?
Kathy jokes that her 91 yr. old Mom drinks boxed wine

everyday.

And if you have some wine boxes lying around and you don't
have the original boxes, then by all means- store your ornaments
this way.
The wine boxes have dividers, which make them perfect for protecting
your precious and delicate ornaments.

And if you're not a fan of boxed wine, head to your local wine
or liquor store anyway, they may have some empty boxes leftover.

When you get the boxes home- clean them, let them dry and then fold or cut
the cardboard dividers as needed, and place 2 or 3 tissue-wrapped
ornaments in each slot, making sure the heavier ornaments
are on the bottom and the lighter ones on top.

That's it- A post Christmas tip that may or may not be from Kathy
Griffin.

Good Luck!

Kathy Griffin's Rx For Leftover Wine!

Kathy Griffin's Rx For Making Wine Last!

Kathy Griffin- in all of her outspoken glory
will be back on display in her new talk show,
"Kathy" on the Bravo network. On thing Ms. Griffin loves
talking about is her mom's love of wine.

Boxed wine to be exact, and although Ms. Griffin makes light
of her mom's drinking, it may be the reason she's in such great
health at age 91.
That's right, Kathy's mom is 91, and according to a number

of articles on the benefits of wine, it may work for you as well.

If you're convinced and you're ready to take up the habit that's
been a mainstay in the Griffin household for decades,
remember a
few tips before starting, tips like...

a) make it one glass a day, no overindulging.
b) make sure the rest of your lifestyle is top-notch.
In other words, make sure you eat well and get some exercise.

c) avoid smoking, and that includes second-hand smoke.
d) waste not-want not. Buying wine can get expensive, and
if you don't earn a salary like Kathy Griffin you may forgo
wine and miss out on the benefits, but hold on-there's help
for you. To avoid pouring out wine and wasting it, do the following...
Pour what's leftover into a smaller bottle or jar that's just large
enough to hold the liquid and close it up tightly. Doing this reduces
the head space so there's less exposure to oxygen, keeping the wine
fresh for a little longer.

That's it- start your wine drinking (one glass a day) and you too,
may live to 91 and beyond.

Good Luck!

Kathy Griffin's Rx To Beat Pain!

                Laugh Along With Kathy!

Kathy Griffin, the outspoken and outrageous comedienne will be back
on Bravo with a new talk show.
Enough about the talk show, if you like watching and listening to Kathy Griffin,

and you're a woman and you have to deal with pain, then this tip is for you.

Why?
New research says that women can tolerate pain better while watching a
funny movie, T.V. show or a stand-up act. And the effect lasts for 20 minutes
afterward.

Laughter releases morphine-like molecules in the brain-and the more you
laugh, the higher your pain tolerance.
So, if you plan on doing something strenuous and painful, just make sure to
watch I Love Lucy reruns or Kathy Griffin in concert-first.

Good Luck!
