An Actor's Environmental Rx To Help All People!

Leo's Green Tips For Saving Humanity!

Leonardo DeCaprio is serious about environmental issues.

Yes, a lot of stars are, but Mr. DeCaprio gives speeches and tons
of his money to bring about change when it comes to the environment.
And one of his suggestions: Plant more trees.
Okay, plant more trees, but why?

They (trees) help us breathe (by providing oxygen) and they clear the air
of toxins and pollutants.

But hold on, are you also aware that trees can help you lose weight,

help you make more money, (in real estate) save money (reducing energy costs)
make you and your loved ones more calm, better behaved,

reduce incidents of road rage and boost your child's I.Q.?
Well, if you weren't aware and would like more info, head on
over to Amazon.com/the kindle store and download--see title to the

right. Doing so will be great for your skin, your health, your mental health,
your wealth and us, (we wrote it).
Thank-You and Thank Mr. DeCaprio!

Good Luck!

The Oscar's Rx For Storing Leftovers!

                  Storing Leftover Champagne!

If you read our last post, then you know it was all about the bubbly, (aka Champagne)
and if you're like Hollywood and have some leftover champagne, make sure to
store it away properly.

That's right, make sure to store it so it won't go flat, and the way to do that
is to...Take a deflated balloon and slip it over the top of the bottle.
Place the bottle in the refrigerator and it should keep for a  week or two.

The balloon tightly seals out air so that the bubbles remain intact--
allowing you to enjoy it (the bubbly) a little while longer.

Good Luck!

Leonardo DeCaprio's Beverage Rx For Summer!

                                Drink Like F. Scott Fitzgerald!

The long-awaited movie "The Great Gatsby" will be out in
this month. The film is about the author who wrote the book.
Who was the author? F. Scott Fitzgerald.

And it's rumored his favorite drink was a Mint Julep.
It's also rumored that cocktails were invented in the 20's,
as a way to throw off law officials who were looking for bars
and restaurants selling illegal booze, so the bartenders
started adding fruit, soda, water and flowers
to drinks, hoping to disguise them.

With that said, if you plan on seeing the movie and would like
to have the favorite beverage of author F. Scott Fitzgerald,
here's a  recipe that you can make for your
guests at a party or make for yourself after a long day
at work.

The Classic Mint Julep Recipe:
Put a few mint leaves in a glass, then add 1 tbs. of powdered
sugar and a 1 tbs. of water. Stir. Fill the glass with ice and about
3 oz. of bourbon. Stir again. Finish it up by putting a mint leaf
on the top.

One more tip: Have glasses rinsed and ingredients chilled before
making the mint juleps for your guests.

That's it- and with the Kentucky Derby a few days away,
have your own K.D party and serve a few mint juleps to

your guests.
Mint Juleps are the most requested drinks at the Kentucky Derby.

Good Luck!

Hollywood's Rx For Saving The Environment!

                            Natural Rxs For The Environment!

Hollywood stars have been doing their part to save the environment and
find suitable replacements to products like laundry detergent, drain cleaners,
and fabric softeners.
Stars like Leonardo DiCaprio,  Ed Begley Jr. Jamie Lee Curtis,
Ryan Gosling and Jessica Alba (who's creating her own
line of "natural"products)  are all doing their part to
help us and if you want to do your part, look below to get
started on doing without the dangerous chemicals.
1) Drain Cleaner-
Using a commercial drain cleaner on a regular basis,
not only ruin your drain pipes, your wallet and your health as well.
To make your own alternative-do the following...

Combine one cup baking soda and pour it down the drain.
Then pour down 2 quarts of boiling water, wait about 30 min.
and then finish up with some cool water.
2) Shaving Cream-
If the ingredients on your can of shaving cream, reads like
chemistry book, it's time to toss it out. The suitable replacement:
Hair Conditioner. Shaving cream creates the same foaming action
and it leaves behind some moisturizers as well.

3) Oven Cleaner-
Like drain cleaners, breathing in the fumes of oven cleaner over time
can do incredible damage to your health. A suitable replacement:
Baking soda. Heat the oven up for a min. or two and then pour on a little

baking soda and a small amount of hot water. Let it sit on the stains and spills
and then scrub (with a scouring pad) and then wipe down the oven with a cloth.
4) Stains-
Do you use a product like Shout? Well, if you run out or want to save money,

use some baby shampoo. Just apply directly to the stain before washing.
And yes, it it works for handwashables as well. Add a few drops of baby shampoo
to things like sweaters, bras and nylons.
5) Squeaky Doors-
Your old reliable can of  WD40 works perfectly, only problem- breathing in the
fumes yr. after yr. New suitable replacement: Petroleum Jelly aka Vaseline.
Put some on door hinges, or the inside of your oven doors. Vaseline is more suitable
than say--vegetable or olive oil, both of which can spill and leave big messes.
6) Fabric Softener-
Who doesn't love the smell of a fabric softener? Believe it or not, they (fabric softeners)
can build up on clothes, and even shorten the life of your clothes and linens.
The suitable replacement: Vinegar! The liquid that has 101 uses, can help get your
clothes softer and even cleaner. Just pour 1/4 cup in during the final rinse.

That's it- And remember, that although you may never feel like a star,
you can protect and save the environment like them.

Good Luck!
