Buying Engagement Rings!
In less than a week, it will be a new year. And with the changing of times,
that sometimes means there will be unions.
And the unions we're talking about are marriages.
And like a lot of folks, stars also talk about and plan out marriages.
One such star--Liam Payne.
It's rumored that Mr. Payne of the top selling pop group, "One Direction"
was seen at a jewelry store looking at engagemant rings for his lady love--
Sophia Smith.
And if you're a guy or a couple who's looking to buy an engagement ring,
don't do what stars do.
And what is that?
Go all out and purchase a ginormous ring.
That's right, many stars can afford that 10,000, 25, 000 or even 100,000
dollar ring, but for the rest of us "regular folk" 500 to 2,000 dollars
is more than enough.
Why?
Researchers interviewed couples who were on the verge of divorce and
asked them about their spending habits, their sex lives, their parenting
styles, everything. And then one researcher decided to ask about courting,
you know- how long they waited to have sex, did they talk about
kids, did they live together before marrying and their engagement rings.
Engagement rings?
Yes, the researchers say that couples who went overboard (spending-wise)
on the ring, were more likely to break up.
Why?
Because buying an expensive ring means you're values are misplaced
and you weren't in the marriage for the right reasons.
But, those who paid $500, $ 1,000 or $ 2,000 place higher value on
non-financial things , like shared values and a commitment to working
together when things do get tough.
So, if you're one to believe in things like this and you're planning on
getting married, remember, don't follow the example of Liam Payne,
follow your own lead and get a small, inexpensive ring.
