Cooking Star's Rx To Satisfy Salty Cravings!

                          Taming Salty Cravings!

Ah Cravings...some people have carb cravings, some have sweet cravings and
then there are those who love potato chips, nuts and pretzels, in other words--
salty cravings.

Well, if you can't go a day without potato chips or nuts, you're not alone,
food network star--Giada De Laurentiis feels your pain- as she too
also shares the same cravings for salty foods.
And unlike a lot of stars who also cook, Ms. Delaurentiis seems to have
controlled and managed her cravings and (weight) for all of these years.
So, what does she do if a salty cravings strikes?
She goes for legumes, in other words beans (or peas) but more specifically--
Chickpeas.

Yes, chickpeas- the legumes you use to make great tasting hummus, are
the same food Ms. Delaurentiis uses to shut down salty cravings.

Why chick peas?
The beans pack a 6 grams of metabolism-revving protein and 4 grams of filling
fiber per ping pong ball-size handful.

That's it- and if you want to follow in the steps of the Food Network

star-then look for crispy chickpeas called Saffron Road Crunch Chickpeas-
which can be found at supermarkets or online at Amazon.com. Price --$4 for 6 oz.
Or save your money and buy canned chickpeas, rinse them a few times,
dry them off, place them on a cookie sheet, sprinkle some olive
or coconut oil over them and bake for 30 mins. at 350 degrees.
You can add some spices- curry or turmeric powder, cayenne pepper
or grated cheese before or after baking them.

Heidi Klum's Rx For Never Getting Colds!

                             Stay Healthy Like Heidi!

Heidi Klum-brags about being a mom of 4, having endless energy,
being a multitasker and never getting sick?
How does she do it? With raw garlic.

She admits it's not always pleasant to be in her presence,
but it works for her. (It may be the reason for the divorce)
But why is garlic such a powerhouse against colds and flu?
Garlic contains a chemical called allicin, and allicin stimulates
the immune cells. And when you crush or chop up a garlic bulb-
allicin forms, helping to reduce your chance of getting sick by
a whopping 60%.

So, if you're brave like Heidi, and want to stay cold and flu-free,
chop up a clove or two of garlic and place it on your salad,
your baked chicken or fish, or add it to your salsa or hummus.
And if you do this while eating lunch at work or school,
make sure to bring along a toothbrush, or a small bottle of mouthwash,
or some fennel seeds or parsley (fresh) to help deal with the funky breath.

That's it- and for more info on staying cold and flu-free,
head to Google and type in Inside Edition's Rxs For Never
Getting Sick.

Good Luck!
