Walt Disney's Beauty Rx For Women!

                            Become A Real Sleeping Beauty!

Are you a fan of Walt Disney? Do you have a favorite Disney movie?
Well, if your favorite Disney film is "Sleeping Beauty" give yourself
a pat on the back.

But don't just pat yourself on the back, make sure you really follow the
title. Follow the title?
Yes,  eating right and exercising are incredibly important if you want to
maintain your looks and weight, but the old adage about sleeping
to look more beautiful is actually true.

How true?
According to new research, women who get 7 to 8 hrs. of sleep
a night do look younger. They also have half as many lines and age
spots and better elasticity.
Researchers have found out that when you sleep, your skin is
repairing itself after being exposed to the Sun, pollution and that burger
and fries you had for lunch.

So, if you've been trying to get by on 4 to 6 hrs. of sleep (like Jay
Leno and Olivia Munn) increase the time by an hr. or two and you too,
can become a real life "Sleeping Beauty!"

Good Luck!

Rachael Ray's Rx For Better Sleep!

                             Sleep Like Rachael Ray!

On today's Rachael Ray show-She talked about flat stomachs.
The author told Rachael about some foods to eat, some exercises
to do and the importance of good sleep to get the stomach of your dreams.

Ms. Ray talked about watching  TCM , (Turner Classic Movies)
right before bed and the author told Ms. Ray to stop doing it.
Why would someone tell you not to watch T.V. before bed?
Well, there are a number of reasons, like...
a) If it's a horror movie, it may keep you up and interfere with sleep.
b) If it's the news and you watch a violent crime or a fire that's
left a family homeless can also cause you to stay awake.
c) The light from the T.V. stimulates the part of the brain that
keeps you awake.
d) The light also prevents the melatonin (the sleep hormone)
from working at it's optimal best.
e) And a  T.V. in the room may work against you sexually.
How so? See tip b, seeing gory and unpleasant images,
is not conducive to a healthy sex life.

So, are you convinced? Ready to turn off the T.V. in favor of
a good night's sleep?

Well, if you do adopt a "no T.V." rule, remember you can still watch,
but make it a comedy like Golden Girls or Seinfeld, and make it at least
an hour before bed.

That's it- A good comedy for a good night's sleep.

Today's Show Rx For Losing Weight!

                          Weight Loss Tips For Women!

Ladies, did you catch the "Today show" this morning?

They did a segment familiar to a lot of people,
the subject: Why do men and women like different temperatures
in the house. Of course there was the women are smaller and therefore
are colder.

But one thing the story didn't tell you...keeping your house a little colder
can help you live longer, slow down aging and help you lose weight.

Lose weight? Yes, and with the very cold temperatures predicted for
a lot of the country, it's time to take advantage.

Being exposed to lots of cold air produces 2 key slenderizing changes
in your body- 1) your body has to work hard to burn more fat and 2)
cold weather activates your stores of brown fat.
What is brown fat? It's a healthy type of fat that gobbles up harmful
white fat.

And that's not all- there's another benefit of cold weather, what is it?
Sleeping in a bedroom that's between 60 and 68 degrees, helps you
get to sleep faster and enjoy deeper sleep.
And women (and men) who get 7 to 8 hrs. of uninterrupted sleep
are up to 50% less likely to be overweight.
A good night's sleep is critical for regulating hormones that control

hunger and insulin sensitivity, and making it easier to manage your weight.

So ladies, are you willing to sleep in a room that's a little colder?
Or the more important question-are you willing to sleep in
a room that's a little colder to lose weight?
If you are, make sure to do it for the next 3 months,
after that- it'll be time for the fans and air conditioners again.

Good Luck!

Horror Movie Rx For Better Sleep!

                         Sleep Better Tonight!

Are you a fan of horror movies? Do you like the movies of the past, that
didn't rely on blood or gore? Or are you a fan of the slash and thrash movies
like the "Saw" Franchise?

One thing about horror movies is that someone is always waking up in the
middle of the night-drenched in sweat, wondering if something or someone
is watching them?

If you find that you're waking up in the middle of night on a regular
basis, it's not someone watching you, it's probably anger.

That's right- waking up at 3:00 a.m. is usually stress or anger

about something happening at work, a troubled relationship
with a spouse, child, parent (fill in the blank), or stress over bills,
or something else.

And the old adage "never go to bed mad" is certainly true.
Anger and/or stress keeps your mind occupied and your body tense,
setting you up for an increase in sleep-disrupting stress hormones.
Another problem caused by 3 a.m. wakeups?
Some people feel pain in the rectum area, a pain that feels
like hemrroids.

So, how do you get to sleep and stay asleep?

Listed below are some suggestions.
a) Write it out-
Write out what's bothering you in a journal.
b) Pray It Out-
Think it only works for Tim Tebow? It'll work for you too.
Say your favorite prayer slowly about 5 times. It'll help
end racing thoughts as well.
c) Exercise-
About 3 to 4 hrs. before bed. Don't do it to close to bedtime
or you'll be too wired for sleep.
d) Eat Some Cheese-
About and hr. before bed, eat some cottage, ricotta, or cheddar cheese.
Cheese supplys you with an amino acid that your brain converts into the
feel-good hormone serotonin. Cheese also helps you dream and remember
those dreams.
e) A Massage-
Give yourself a hand or foot massage. Or ask a loved one to do it.
Massaging the hundreds of pressure points on your hands and feet,
help you relax and get to sleep.
f) Still Waking Up-
If you do wake up, read an audiobook. A regular book or T.V. will
emit light, and that light may keep you up for an hour or more.

That's it- Some tips to avoid the 3:a.m. wakeups, that are so common
in the horror movies.

Good Luck!
