Weight Loss Secrets For Hollywood!
The Help- a Summer movie that received a lot of critical praise,
and financial rewards, is now cleaning up at the award ceremonies.
Unfortunately, not all is a bed of roses with the cast. One cast member
in particular, isn't happy with her weight.
The cast member: Octavia Spencer, the Alabama native said her extra
weight may keep her from getting certain roles and may shorten her life.
She's right- a thick midsection on men and women increases your risk
of developing diabetes, hardening of the arteries, high blood pressure,
prostate enlargement (guys) , stroke and certain cancers.
If Ms. Spencer is thinking of dieting, she may want to rethink that,
why? Diets don't work, what will? Follow the suggestions below and
see if permanent weight loss is achievable, once and for all.
The Non-Dieting Diet Tips!
1) Eat More Colors-
Simply put, more fruit and vegetables. Raw and cooked properly,
fruits and vegetables fill your body with vitamins, nutrients and
antioxidants-that make cravings for fat and sugar disappear.
In fact, one woman who started eating this way, was able to
give up her love of sweets, high fat sandwiches and soda.
2) Watch What You Drink-
Diet or regular, drinking soda while is a disaster for those who want to keep
weight off, why? They (soda makers) add all types of chemicals that only
increase cravings for sweets and carbs. Drink seltzer and invest in a juicer.
And this also goes for so-called "healthy" fruit juices.
3) Switch Plates-
Throw out your regular plates and switch to salad plates.
People who did this, ate 30% less food and ate 230 fewer calories.
Another trick: make the plates blue, the color that helps calms you down,
so you less.
4) Switch Glasses-
Pour your tea or coffee, fruit juice into tall slim cups and not short fat
ones.
5) Eat breakfast-
Not a breakfast eater? Big mistake, you'll only eat more later on in the day.
Not into food? Buy a good quality blender and/or juicer. Add some fruit,
almond milk, vanilla extract, ice, chopped nuts and drink up.
6) Stay Hydrated-
Going too long without drinking may result in cravings.
It doesn't have to be a glass of water every 30 mins. But, don't
let your body become too dehydrated.
7) Eat Protein-
A small amount of protein every 3 to 4 hrs. works wonders.
A cup of yogurt, some nuts, a piece of string cheese, some beans
or a 3 0z. serving of salmon all count.
8) Time Your Carbs-
People who've successfully kept weight off, say they stop
carbs by 12:00 noon. It may not be realistic, but it works for some.
9) Read Labels-
The biggest diet wreckers are hydrogenated oil, vegetable shortening,
high fructose, corn syrup, sodium and trans fat. Avoid these, and you may be
more successful at weight loss. Trans fat is a big factor in keeping
bellies plump. A health problem that really concerns Ms. Spenser.
So, read those labels.
10) Add More Spices-
If you read our post on "Health Rxs From Sonoma County"
then you know about the importance of adding ginger, thyme,
tarragon, basil, cayenne pepper and oreagno. Adding more
spices and herbs to dishes help curb salt cravings. And you know,
less salt equals less bloat.
11) Make The Switch-
Instead of butter in your brownies add black beans (mashed)
or pumpkin pureee as a substitute. Using fruits or beans
for high fat ingredients adds flavor, cuts calories and won't
take away from the taste or texture. For more tips on how to
make substitutions-go to SparkPeople.com or HungryGirl.com.
12) Once A Week-
Saying "I'll never eat hot wings or deep dish pizza again,"
is unrealistic. Instead, go out with friends or family and have
a slice of pizza or a margarita, or eat the food and cake at a wedding-
and tomorrow- go back to the tips listed above.
13) Reach Out-
Taking off weight is a problem that requires a lot of time,
patience and diligence, and that's why-you may need help
in dealing with it. If that's the case, go online to SparkPeople.com
and get the help from a whole village of weight loss warriors.
That's It- We hope these tips help a movie star like Octavia Spenser
or a working Mom in Topeka Kansas.
Good Luck!
