Hollywood's Rx For More Energy!

                                  Just Say No To Sport Drinks! 

Sport and Energy Drinks are a big business, how big? 

How about 9 billion dollars a yr. big, but not in Hollywood.
That's right- stars concerned about their health and looks
avoid the drinks like the plague. And if you're concerned about
your own health, you too, should follow suit.
Energy drinks may provide you with extra energy for an hr. or a few hours,
but take them on a regular basis, and you risk everything from irregular
heart beats, to the sweats and the biggest threat of all...sudden death.
Yup, a regular habit of sports drinks can cause you to check out a lot sooner

What are the alternatives?

1 banana
1/2 avocado
1/2 cup of spinach
1 cup of coconut water
1 tsp honey or molasses
a few ice cubes
Blend or juice until smooth.

Hollywood's Rxs For Losing Winter Weight!

                          Lose Weight Like A Star! 

On the T.V. show Extra- they did a story on ways to lose weight. 

One of their tips was juicing. It's all the rage right now,
and if you fell it'll help, by all means do it.
Another tip not from the show, but  from diet counselors
or a weight loss guru like Jillian Michaels.

The tip: Remove processed food, white foods like bread, 

crackers, pastries, spaghetti and rice. They also suggest
reading labels and looking for foods that say trans-fats
or glucose, sucrose or fructose. make sure to avoid these types
of foods as well. But there are some other foods, "diet busters"

that weight loss counselors forget to mention, what foods are they?
a) Dried Fruit-
1 cup of raisins has 460 calories and a cup of grapes has 60.
And fruit juice like orange has the equivalent of 12 tsps. of sugar.
And one whole orange is about 80 calories.
b) Granola-
Yes, we know it's favorite for a lot of people, but
1 cup has 600 calories and about 30 grams of fat.
Eat a bowl of Cheerios instead.
c) Yogurt-
Do you like sweetened yogurt? Well, it has 3 tsps. of sugar.
Opt for a cup of plain yogurt and add 1/2 banana or 1/2 apple
or an orange.

That's it- Some other diet-busting foods that are often overlooked.

America's Got Talent Yoga Rx!

                          A Yoga Rx To Beat Tiredness! 

Howard Stern is the new member of the T.V. show "America's
Got Talent," he seems to be on his best behavior and getting
some pretty good reviews.
One thing about Howard that's been kept under wraps...
He's been involved in Yoga and meditation for over 15 yrs.

And that's the basis of this post, if you should ever find yourself
needing a boost in energy, do the following...
Stand with your feet hip-width apart and your knees slightly bent.
Using your palms and fingers, simulataneously tap both sides of your
belly button for 2 mins.

Yoga experts say this will stimulate blood vessels in the stomach, increasing
circulation of energizing oxygen between the digestion system and the rest
of the body.

So remember, you don't need that candy bar or "energy drink" 

to increase your energy levels, just do the above Yoga move.

Alec Baldwin's Rx For Staying Young!

You must of heard- Alec Baldwin is getting married to a yoga instructor
half his age. And the fact she teaches yoga will benefit Mr. Baldwin in
a number of ways like...

a) Prevent Middle-Age Spread- 
If you're in your thirties and forties and can't get your midsection to look
lie it did when you were 20, then it may be time for a yoga class.
Just 30 mins. of yoga 3 to 5 times a week, can stop and even reverse
the so called "middle-age spread!"
b) Mindful Eating-
What is it? Doing yoga on a regular basis is associated with "mindful eating"
in which you naturally savor every mouthful-instead of eating very quickly.
And people who eat mindfully are proven to be less likely to overeat when 

they do sit down to a meal or snack mindlessly between meals. And this
will also result in a slimmer body.
c) Thicker and Youthful Hair-
Tired of spending money on shampoos and other hair care products
that promise more gorgeous locks? Maybe you should give yoga a try
and get the thicker and shinier hair you want. Yoga poses send nourishing,
oxygen-rich blood to your scalp. helping your hair stay thick and luxurious
as you get older.
d) Help For Men-
Men (and women) who complain about the "one minute man"
may become better lovers with yoga. Who remembers when singer
Sting only wanted to talk about his marathon type love sessions
