Morning Show's Rx For Lower Calorie Pancakes!

                         Lower Calorie Sunday Morning Breakfast! 

If you watch the "Today show" regularly then you 

know who Joy Bauer is. 
She's the nutritionist who has helped hundreds of people
lose weight and regain their health and to help even more people
she's written a book.
The Book: "From Junk Food To Joy Food! "

And if one of your "joy foods" are pancakes, you're in luck.
How so? 

Ms. Bauer has a recipe for a top-notch, great tasting, 
lower calorie pancake. 

The pancake recipe: 

Mix 1/2 cup of quick-cooking oats, 4 egg whites,
1 Tbs. of raw sugar or honey, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon and 1 tsp. vanilla extract. 

Mix well and pour onto a hot griddle or skillet and cook for a min. or two on each side
until golden.


That's the recipe- and if you want more fiber and nutrients, add a few slices of apples,
or banana slices or berries, (black, rasp, straw or blueberries.)
Enjoy these on a Sunday morning or switch things up and have them
for dinner.

Young Stars Rxs For Looking Your Best!

                              Beauty Advice From Kylie and Selena! 

If you're not fortunate enough to live in California or Florida or Arizona
during the Winter-then you're well aware of what the cold, wind, dry indoor air
and other aspects of Winter can do to your looks.
And if you're concerned about the toll Winter is taking on your looks,
look to 2 young stars who may be able to help.
The stars:
Kylie Jenner and Selena Gomez. 


First up, Kylie.
Yes, we know that she's had lip injections, but so what,
she still has to take the same precautions as the rest of the us to make sure
her lips don't dry out, peel and crack in the Winter months, and her secret...

A Compress, a lip compress. 
To make-- Combine some milk, (almond, coconut or whole milk) 2 Tbs. 
with some rose essential oil, 3 drops (find it at health-food stores
or Amazon.com) in a small bowl. 

Take a cotton ball, dip it into the milk and oil and massage some into your lips.
Apply this once or twice a day. 


Now on to Selena--
When one thinks of the 23 yr. old, a number of things come to mind, her slender figure,
her youthful face and that thick head of hair and to keep her hair thick and luxurious,
Ms. Gomez uses a mask.
An avocado hair mask.
Ms. Gomez makes no secret of her love affair with the avocado
and if you want to prevent thinning hair (in the Winter months) you too, 

should learn to love it as well. 
To make the mask...
Mash up a ripe avocado along with  1 tsp. castor oil (find castor oil at drug or health-food
stores)and 1 tsp. of extra-virgin olive oil 
in a bowl, mix well and apply to damp hair. 
Put on a shower cap and leave the mask on your hair for 15 to 20 mins.
After the 15 mins. wash out the avocado mask and then use your regular
shampoo to remove the oils.

Young Hollywood's Rx For Youthful Skin!

                      Keep Skin Youthful Like Selena and Eden!

No, that title isn't a misprint. Young Hollywood stars and their secrets for 
youthful skin.
As stars who are in the public eye, keeping one's looks healthy, youthful and
vibrant is vitally important.
And the 2 stars who embody this do it with food. Well, one food to be exact,
and the young stars: Eden Sher of the T.V. show "The Middle" and
actress, singer and bestie of Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez. 


You're probably thinking, they're only in their early 20's, what 

do they have to worry about?
A lot, if they plan on working in front of the camera for years and years.
And one of the ways these 2 are doing it, is with a certain fruit.

and a reduced risk of sagging, (the cheeks, jawline and neck) .
Avocados are rich in monounsaturated fats that relieve inflammation, while strengthening,
and healing muscles--the elastin and other structures that support the skin

and  keep your skin smooth, supple and wrinkle-free.

So, if you want to be more like Eden and Selena, make sure to eat more
of them and for those who aren't fans, wear them.
Yes, mash em up, add an egg yolk, a dash of olive oil and honey, 

mix well and apply this to your clean face, neck, and the back of your hands. 
After 15 mins. rinse the mask off with warm water and a mild soap.

We'll, if you want to lower your odds of ever getting it, you may want to
to take the ad vice just given by Yale. researchers,  what is it?
Give up all carbs, or only eat them on special  occasions , like
birthdays, Christmas, or Thanksgiving.
And if you're a carb addict, how to overcome it?
Do the following...
a) Be more like a Latina, say what?
Simply put, eat more beans like Latin men and women.
Beans block some of the starch you absorb from beans,
about  25 percent worth of carbs.
Cannelini  white kidney beans work best.
b) Drink green tea--
Popular in Asia countries, it (green tea) can help your liver convert
some of the carbs  into easily burned fatty acids.
This simple step can reduce your risk of developing
breast cancer by 30%..
C) Beware of White Foods
Not  a statement  of  predujice,  it's just a fact.
The more white starches you eat,  like white bread,
potatoes and rice, the higher your chances of getting

d) Get some exercise--

Serotonin.  And the more serotonin you have
in your system, the easier it'll be to resist carbs.

Disney Star's Rx For An Older Star!

                           Stop Aging Today!

Hear it here first, Jennifer Aniston has just announced that
she will not, (repeat will not) get anything done to face,
cosmetic-wise. Her words exactly, "I'm not putting any
Sh*T into my face."
She also said, her man (Justin T.) would put a gun to head to
stop her from doing it.

If that's the case, what are her alternatives?
Well, she can use the one favorite food of a Disney star
to help prevent the aging and sagging of her skin. 

Who's the star?
Selena Gomez.
And the favorite food?
Avocados. 

Ms. Gomez, who is of Mexican descent, said she could eat them
everyday.
There are a few posts on avocados and aging, you have to 

go back and find them, but if you want some recent news concerning
the fruit, here it is.
Avocados are rich in healthy fats that relieve inflammation, while
strengthening and healing muscles, elastin and other structures that
support the skin. A
Your recommended dose: Try and eat 1/2 avocado a day.

Pour 1/2 one into a blender, add some spinach, 1/2 banana, and
almond milk and make a smoothie. 

Or mash some up with herbs, spices and olive oil and make a nice
dip. Just make sure to use chopped up veggies and not chips.
And for those who don't like avocado, you can also wear it.
Mash some up with a little honey and Olive oil, lie back
and apply to your face and hands.
A warning, avocados are expensive, (and messy) so you may want to use
apples instead. Peel and slice the apple, put it into a saucepan,
add milk 1/4 cup and heat up for a few mins. remove from the
Stove, let cool, lie back and apply to your face, neck and hands, (tops
of hands). After 15 min. remove and wash your face with warm water
and a mild soap.

Are you a fan of the hit ABC show, "The Middle?"
Well, the whole cast appeared on another hit ABC show, 

"The Chew" and revealed some of their dietary secrets.
Middle child Sue Heck, played by Eden Sher, revealed that she's not
a big eater and will have 1/2 an avocado with some lemon juice and spices
on top and call that lunch.

What's so unusual about that?
New research says that Ms. Sher may be onto something
and that something is appetite control.
Eating 1/2 avocado a day can reduce your appetite by a whopping 40%,
helping you  avoid dangerous diet tricks like skipping meals or
taking pills that may cause serious damage to your body.


Avocados are full of a good for you fat and fiber, that not only fill you up,
but shut down cravings, as well.

Selena Gomez's Birthday Gift For Travelers!

Selena Gomez turned 21 on July 22nd. Ms. Gomez makes no secret of her
love of Mexican food. She is Mexican-American and often celebrates birthdays,
red carpet events and other holidays with some type of Mexican treat.
One of her favorite foods not only tastes great, it can also help those of
you out there who travel on planes or in cars for hours at a time,
the favorite food: Salsa!

That's right- Sitting on a plane or sitting in an office at a desk for hours
at a time increases your risk of developing blood clots.
And if you're a World traveler or just someone who has to sit for hrs.
at a time, then add some salsa to your daily menu.

Why salsa?
It's really any kind of tomato-based food that helps keep blood flowing,
but salsa is a favorite for a lot of people. Give credit to the powerful
antioxidant in tomatoes called Lycopene, and it's ability to stop blood
platelets from becoming sticky, the first step in clot formation.

So. if you have to endure long bus, car or airplane rides, remember to
eat more ketchup (organic), tomato sauce, salsa or have Whoopi Goldberg's

And here are some more tips to keeping the blood clots at bay,
* If you do eat tomato sauce, don't overdo the meatballs, spaghetti
and Italian bread. High fat foods also cause blood clots and no
amount of tomatoes will undo the damage.

Eat kiwi, a piece of dark chocolate, or drink some grape
juice or drink more water.
* Stand up more. If you sit for long hours, stand up every 60 mins.
and walk around. This may be difficult on a plane, but you can
sit there and rotate your ankles and flex your knees.

Selena Gomez's Snack Rx For Better Moods!

and budding movie star needs something to cheer her up.
her romance to first love Justin Bieber is over and her movie "Spring
Break" didn't do well.
And with 2 life changing events like these, it's easy to understand
if a person becomes blue or down in the dumps.

But not Selena, she recently told a T.V. interviewer that she
loves to head back to Texas and indulge in her favorite treat, what is it?
Guacamole. Not surprising, it's the preferred snack food for a lot of people. 

And it may be the reason why Ms. Gomez is able to bounce back after
2 setbacks.
According to researchers, eating 1/2 of an avocado a day helps the brain make 

more mood-elevating dopamine, and that translates into a 25% decrease in blue
moods.

So, do you need a boost in moods? Are you ready to add more avocadoes
to your diet? Well, if you are, add a few slices to sandwiches or burgers,
or add to salad greens, or puree them and add them to soups, stews
or chili dishes. Use cut up fresh vegetables to dip (to save calories)
and avoid the chips.

And for those who need an alternative to ice cream...
try this- peel a ripe avocado, rinse it with water, dry it, and then place 

it in the blender. Add some cocoa powder, (1 tbsp.) a banana, a dash
of vanilla extract, a banana and a few ice cubes.
Blend until smooth, eat as is or place it in a plastic container and
store in the freezer for 30 to 60 mins.
That's it- a natural Rx for the lactose-intolerant.
