A Movie Star's Fruit Rx To Help You Live Longer!

Live Long and Prosper Like Zoe!

Oh no, the beautiful star of the upcoming Star Trek movie just revealed
she's battling an Autoimmune disease.

The actress:
Zoe Saldana.

Ms. Saldana  like many is fighting it naturally, you know with
a "clean diet" meditation, gentle exercise and plenty of hugs--
from her kids and husband.
She's also adding more chocolate, or her version of chocolate
to her daily menus, what type of Choc is that?
Berries.

Ms. Saldana said she wants to watch her sugar intake, so she
has a bowl of berries each night and not real chocolate and if you too,
want to go the berry route as well, you'll be doing your body and soul a
World of good.

What type of good, you ask?
* Lower risk of mental decline
* A flatter tummy
* A reduced appetite

* Lower risk of getting diabetes
* More serotonin, you know--the "mood boosting hormone"
* Improved heart health

Blue and Black
------------------------------------------------------------------
* Whiter teeth
* A 60% less chance of getting Br. Cancer
* Stronger Immune system
* Lowers bad cholesterol and raises the good cholesterol
* Improved eyesight
Strawberries

------------------------------------------------------------------
* A faster metabolism
* keep blood sugar levels stable- great if you're diabetic
* Improves circulation- prevent blood clots (especially if you sit
  all day)
* Loaded with antioxidants
* Reduce inflammation throughout the body.
* Natural Sun Block

Raspberries
---------------------------------------------------------------

So, there you have it, Zoe Saldana's recipe for eating something sweet
without eating something sweet and if you plan on copying this way of eating,
remember these tips...

* Make sure to wash your berries if you buy them fresh,
as fresh berries (the skins) may contain pesticides.
Or buy frozen.

* Make sure to have the berries plain or with a low-fat
whipped topping or homemade Ice cream, (look for a recipe
using an avocado and a banana)
* Avoid adding tons of sugar and a white flour crust.
Once in a while is okay, do it on a regular basis
and you increase your odds of getting a number of illnesses and diseases.
* Do like the Danes and Italians-
They eat their berries with a little vinegar (Denmark)
or a little pepper, (Italy). Doing so reduces your odds of getting diabetes
and some cancers.

Good Luck!

Summer Fruit Rxs For Youthful Good Looks!

                          Eat Your Summer Fruits!
There's always some new type of cosmetic procedure, expensive
cream, stringent diet or strenuous  exercise program to help you turn back
the clock.
And the problem with these creams, hard-to-follow diets and cosmetic

procedures is they're way too expensive for regular folks like you
and me.

But wait, there's an alternative, what is it?
A Farmer's market or regular supermarket.
That's right, before spending good money on something

that may not work or may  make you look worse,
try the Summer fruits that are so plentiful right now.

The Fruits:
a) Watermelon-
Concerned about the sun bearing down on your skin this Summer?
Eat a few slices of watermelon each week. Watermelon (and other red fruits
contain lycopene) an antioxidant that acts like natural Sunscreen.
b) Blueberries-
If your stomach isn't as flat as you'd like, eat more blueberries.
Blueberries tame your appetite and activate genes that burn fat,
especially belly fat.
c) Dark Berries-
Like blackberries, dark raspberries and blueberries keep your legs in

tiptop shape. What type of shape? As in varicose vein free shape.
Berries fortify the veins and capillaries, helping you prevent spider and
varicose veins.
d) Tomatoes-
Yes, they're fruit. And if you want to keep skin cancer free, sleep
more deeply, (mainly cherry tomatoes) and live an extra 5 or more yrs.
then you must eat your tomatoes. And cooked tomatoes work
better than uncooked tomatoes.
e) Cucumbers-
Again they're considered a fruit, (because of the seeds) and if you want to

keep skin dewy and moisturized, beat belly bloat and keep hair from
thinning, eat more cucumbers.
f) Peaches-

To go along with your youthful skin and hair, make sure to keep your eyes
in top form. And to do that, you'll need to eat more peaches.
Peaches help you prevent Cataracts.
One last tip: Make sure to really wash the skin of the peach, (great source of fiber)
and avoid having too many dishes like Peach cobbler. Sugar is a top enemy of great
eyesight.
That's it- and if you want more great info like this, head to Amazon.com/the kindle store
and type The Farmer's market Rxs in the search bar.

And lastly, we've launched a new store at Zazzle.com
The store: Holistically.
If you're a shopper who uses tote bags and you're concerned with your
health, head to our new shop.
We'll be combining all 3. Say what?
Shopping, healthcare and bags.
Buy one of our tote bags, read the front of it and learn
how that container of cherries, plums or peaches can bolster
your health. Just click on the link below and get a head start
on your path to better health and longevity.
Thank You!

Movie Blockbuster's Rx For Natural Sunscreen!

                                 Protect Your Skin This Summer!

Are you a fan of The X-Men movie franchise?
Well, if you're a real fan, then you may have heard the bad news
regarding Hugh Jackman?
What news was that?
His skin cancer returned.

Mr. Jackman thinks all of the time spent in the Australian Sun caused it.

If that's the case, why don't we hear about people living in the Bahamas,
Trinidad, Fiji, Tahiti, Thailand, Guam, Puerto Rico,
Colombia, or Mexico getting it?

Some say there may be more factors than just the Sun that cause it,
and applying sunscreen may only help a little.

If you're concerned and want to avoid getting skin cancer,
why not add some foods that work just like or even better

than drugstore sunscreen.

The Foods:
Green Tea
Papaya*

Guava *
Plums *
Watermelon *

Red and Pink Grapefruit *
Peels from lemons, limes, oranges, clementines, and tangerines.
and the best food protection of all: Tomatoes. *
Grate a little lemon, lime or orange peel into a veggie stir-fry
or a smoothie.
And the tomatoes- Dr. Oz had a woman eat tomatoes for a week

and then had her skin tested, the results: the tomatoes did
protect her skin. One tip: cooked tomatoes work best.
* Red foods contain lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that protects
your skin just like sunscreen would.

And one more thing: We all need some Sun, 15 to 20 mins. a day,
without sunscreen, it can boost health in a number of ways, like...
a) Lower cancer risks (breast and prostate)
b) Keep bones strong
c) Boost Moods
d) Help control appetite
e) Boost Sex Drives
So, there you have it, some things to help you stay healthy as you
approach the Summer of 2014. And if you're into prayer, say
one for Mr. Jackman.

Good Luck!

Ellen's Food Rxs For Beautiful Skin!

Great Looking Skin From Food Sources!

Courtney Cox is making the rounds, this past Friday she was on Jay Leno,
and today, she was on Ellen.
Of course the subject of cosmetic surgery, chemical peels
and aging skin came up.
Ellen who has a birthday coming up- admitted that she too, has
some body flaws. Ellen also knew that the skin on one's neck,

elbows, hands and around the eyes is very thin, therefore aging more
quickly.
If you are a decade or two younger than Ellen and Courtney and want to keep

your skin looking it's best, eat some of the foods that'll keep your skin looking
10 to 15 yrs younger.

The Foods For Youthful Skin:
a) Go Nuts-
Some walnuts and almonds each day will give your skin a healthy
glow. Nuts contain essential fatty acids that keep skin cells fluid

and flexible.
b) Seafood-
A few salmon, trout or halibut dinners will give you smoother
and softer skin. Credit goes to the omega-3 fatty acids that hydrate
skin and flakes from blocking pores.
c) Soy Milk-
Drinking a cup of soy milk a day will help repair problem skin.
Soy milk has estrogen and it (estrogen) stimulates connective
tissue and regenerates your skin.
Important tip: Soy isn't for everyone, if it causes problems
for your digestive system, skip it.
d) More Liquids-

Do you drink an adequate amount of water each day?
Well, you don't have to drink 10 glasses of water each day,
get some liquid refreshment from melon, honeydew, watermelon,

cucumber and cantaloupe. Keeping skin from drying out is very important,
so make sure to eat the above fruits and drink some water each day.
e) More Oil-
If you read our post- "Cougar Town's Rxs For Youthful Hands"
then you already know about the importance of oils.
Olive, walnut and avocado oils help keep skin moist, smooth
and plumped up. Use these oils to saute, stir-fry, in salads
and pestos and use it topically. Apply some to your body,
face, neck, hands, elbows and knees after a shower or bath.
f) Kiwi Please-

Often overlooked as a fruit that can help keep smooth and blemish-free.
One researcher says that 2 kiwis a day can help remove age spots
and moisturize skin from the inside out.
How powerful is Kiwi? A woman (a school teacher) wanted something
natural to help her prevent the number of colds she was bound to get
in the new school yr.

A relative suggested Kiwi, she ate 2 a day, starting in Aug. and by
the end of Summer, noticed a few changes. The changes:
the undereye circles under her eyes disappeared and she didn't
have to cake her makeup on like she usually did. So, in addition
to helping her stay cold-free, she had a smoother and more youthful
complexion.

That's it- Although this list may not do much for Ellen
or Courtney, it's not to late for you... a 20 or 30 something.

Good Luck!

Marilu Henner's Rx For Better Brainpower!

                          Build A Better Brain!

Fall season means eating a different variety of foods.
The foods available in the Fall, are the same foods
available in the Summer, but they may be cheaper.
One of those foods: Pears!

They're not only cheaper, but they can also help your brain

in a number of ways.
Pears are one of the foods that contain Boron, and Boron
is a mineral that improves memory. And if you want a memory
like actress Marilu Henner, then adding more pears to your diet
is the way to go.

And if you have kids, pears offer them something more than just
a great memory.
The benefits for kids: Greater attention spans and reaction times.

And lastly, if you're concerned about dementia, Alzheimer's and
other memory problems, eat the skin along with the inside of the pear.
The skin contains compounds that eases inflammation, inflammation
that can damage the delicate parts of the brain responsible for
remembering all of that information.

So, if a better memory is what you want, stock up on pears.

Good Luck!
