A Top Chef's Sweet Treat To Prevent Colds!

A Brownie Treat To Prevent Colds!
If you watched Racael Ray today, then you
know she had the very popular and very
handsome doctor on.
The doctor?

Travis Storke!
And what did they talk about?
Cold and flu prevention!
Not that unusual, but did you know that you
can prevent colds by eating the good doctors'
favorite dessert?
The dessert: Brownies!

Yes, you're reading it right, brownies to
stay cold-free. How?
By adding canned pumpkin and some
sunflower seeds to the mix.
Pumpkin contains beta carotene, which can
reduce your risk of catching a cold by 25 percent.
And the sunflower seeds, provide you with
Selenium and zinc, both of which boost immunity.

So, if you're a brownie fanatic like Dr.Travis,
Then help yourself to a healthy brownie.
Make the brownies like you normally would,
but use gluten-free brownie mix, 1 can of pumpkin
purée, 1 cup of Sunflower seeds and 1 cup
of semi sweet choc. chips, dark or white,
and walnuts (optional).
Mix together, pour into a baking pan and bake
for 15 to 20 mins. Remove from the oven, let cool
and enjoy. Eat one or two, don't go overboard.

Good Luck!

The Hunger Games Rx For Getting Over A Cold Fast!

                         Get Over A Cold Fast!

Oh no, it's been reported that "Hunger Games" star Jennifer Lawrence isn't
able to talk to the media, thanks to a cold.
Of course, this is flu season and the one thing everyone wants more than

how to prevent a cold is how to get over one...fast?
If you're in the group that wants to know how to get over a cold,

use the 2 tips listed below.
a) Try A Fruity Extract-
Researchers looked at garlic capsules, green tea extract, and pomegranate

extracts, and all 3 didn't come close to the fruit extract that comes from
a breakfast fruit, what is it?
Grapefruit Seed Extract!

GSE is packed with antioxidants called flavonoids, which blast
germs by punching holes in their cell walls.
And when researchers put the GSE up against 70 different
viruses and bacteria, the GSE destroyed every one of them.
Look for grapefruit seed extract at your local health-food store
or online at Amazon.com.
Important tip: Talk to your Dr. before trying any type of supplement.
And if cold prevention is also something you're after, eat grapefruit.
One woman has had grapefruit about 3 or 4 times a week, for the

past 3 yrs, and she hasn't had a cold since.
The woman works with the elderly and wanted to make sure she
wouldn't get sick more than 2 times per yr.
Grapefruit isn't for everyone, those on blood pressure medication
may have to avoid this tip.
Try Elderberry syrup instead.

And the 2nd tip...
Take a hot bath, hot and cold baths are very popular in

Scandinavian countries, but in the U.S. the hot bath rules.
And taking a hot bath while you're ill, can help you recover
faster. Viruses (germs) are so heat sensitive, that raising your
body temperature kills the germs and helps you get back on

your feet in record time.
Not able to take a hot bath? Run your shower, using only hot
water, leave the bathroom and close the door. In a few mins.
go back to the bathroom, turn off the shower, close the door again
and sit of the edge of the tub for a five to ten mins.
This is like your own  personal Sauna, and it too, will help you get
over a cold or even prevent one.

That's it- and if you want more tips on how to stay out of the doctors' office or Emergency room this Winter, head to Amazon.com/ the kindle store and download...
The World's Best Secrets To Never  Getting Sick!
See title at right.

Think of this way- you can pay a small, paltry sum for this E-document
or you can pay the doctor, the Emergency room, etc. The choice is up to
you.

Good Luck!

The Clueless Rx To Help Prevent Breast Cancer!

Don't Be Clueless About Breast Cancer!

Do you remember the movie "Clueless?"
It's was one of the biggest hits of 1995 and today, it
remains a favorite movie for a lot of people.

One of the stars of the movie- Alicia Silverstone, was beloved
and idolized for her role as Cher, but has fallen from grace because
of her dietary views, parenting style and playing "Batgirl."

Well, if you can overlook some of her views and follow one of
her suggestions' for eating a certain soup, you'll be a lot better off.
First, the soup: Ms. Silverstone is a vegan, but she's also a fan of
Japanese foods and one of those foods she so desires is called "Miso
Soup."

A soup that's as popular in Japan as chicken noodle is here in the U.S.
And thanks to new research, Miso soup can help women lower their
risk of getting breast cancer by a whopping 40%.

But wait, there's more, if you're concerned about colds and flus,
miso soup can help keep your immunity levels strong throughout
the Fall and Winter.

So, if you're concerned about breast cancer or boosting immunity,
you must eat more Miso soup.
Find miso soup at Asian specialty stores or go online to Google.com
and type in Miso soup.
And lastly, look for miso soup that's unpasteurized and darker-colored.
This type has been fermented longer and it's loaded with health-boosting
bacteria.

Good Luck!

Hollywood's Bling Rx To Prevent Colds!

Watch Your Bling To Prevent Colds!

Are you a fan of bling? Well, there are a lot of people in movies
and music who love bling.
The bling we're talking about- Rings and Watches!
Wearing rings on almost all of the fingers is a hazard.

What type of hazard?
A cold and flu hazard. The bacteria that causes colds and flu can hide
under rings and watches- and the bacteria will linger there even after
washing your hands.
So, to avoid this-take off the rings and watches and wash your hands
and fingers thoroughly.
And one more tip- you may also want to remove jewelry before cooking,
foodborne illnesses can hide on the fingers like other bacteria.

Good Luck!

Paula Deen's Food Rx To Prevent Colds!

                                      Eat More Sweet Potatoes!

Have you noticed Paula Deen lately?
She's dropped 35 pounds and counting... and one her
favorite foods- sweet potatoes.
Although Ms. Deen loves white potatoes, she decided on the

sweet potato to help her lose  weight.
Sweet potatoes are lower on the glycemic chart than white potatoes.

And with the flu epidemic in full swing, the sweet potato can
help you do more than lose weight.

That's right- sweet potatoes are nature's richest source of beta carotene,

a nutrient that helps keep the mucus membranes lining the nose, mouth,
throat, and lungs in good repair. And that's important for fighting off
infections, because those delicate membranes are your first defense
against invading viruses.

So, do you want to stay cold and flu-free this yr.?
Well, do like Ms. Deen and add a 1/2 or 1 cup of sweet potatoes
to you daily diet. And also important- skip the sugar.
Adding tons of sugar (as in a pie) to sweet potatoes, will only
make it harder to fend off colds. Sugar is one of the worst foods to stay
cold and flu-free.

Also look for a recipe for Sweet potato casserole at SupermarketRxs@typepad.com
