Hollywood's Simple Solution To Boost Metabolism!

                         Bask In The Sunlight!

People are flocking to Hollywood everyday. Many want the fame, the adulation, and the money
and then there are some who only want the warmer temperatures.

That's right, moving to Hollywood, or Arizona, or Hawaii will certainly help you
if you're looking for warmer temperatures.

And if 300 plus days of sunshine is what you're after, then also expect
one side effect, what side effect is that?

A faster metabolism.

That's right, the "holy grail" of dieting, and if you're one of the millions who's
looking for a way to speed up your metabolism, look no further than the sky.
You may already know about the Sun and it's many benefits:

A boost in moods.
A stronger Immune system. (fewer colds)
Reduced odds of getting a number of cancers
Better breathing
A stronger sex drive

And now...A Revved up metabolism.

Researchers say that 15 to 20 mins. outdoors- (without sunscreen)
helps balance hormones, the hormones responsible for weight.
So, are you ready to move to Cal. or Ari. or Hi. or Fiji, or Puerto Rico
or Tahiti.
No, not able to make the move?
Well, another metabolism booster?

Chew gum.

Yes, chew gum for 15 mins. after every meal and watch your weight go down.
How is this possible?
The flavor and scent from a stick (or 2) of gum send signals that trick your
brain into thinking you have more food to digest--and this, amps up your inner

furnace so that it torches more calories.
That's it- two simple solutions for a faster metabolism,
a move to a sunnier climate or chewing some gum, the decision is

up to you.

Good Luck!

Food Network's Food Tip To Lower Disease Risk!

                                    Lower Diabetes Risk!

It hasn't been a good week for the Food Network star- Paula Deen.
With all of the criticism and the sponsors dropping her like a hot
rock. it's not looking to good for Ms. Deen right now.
One thing Ms. Deen should feel good about... her diet and the recent 40 lb.
weight loss. And one of the foods that Ms. Deen used to help her get down about
40 lbs. is now being hailed as a food that'll help prevent one of the diseases that's
running wild in the U.S.

First the food- It's the sweet potato. And Ms. Deen said she used them in place
of her beloved white potatoes.
And secondly, the disease- Diabetes! Although it's too late for Ms. Deen,
new reasearch says that foods like sweet potatoes, butternut squash, pumpkin,
carrots and cantaloupe can turn off the genes that get the diabetes ball rolling.

So, if you have a history of diabetes in your family and want to lower your

chances of ever getting it, do like Paula Deen and stock up on Sweet potatoes.
And lastly, remember you still have to get some exercise, eat more fruits and
vegetables, get 6 to 8 hrs. of sleep and watch the number of carbs you eat.
Oh, one more thing, if you're thinking- more sweet potato and pumpkin
pie, stop thinking it- extra sugar in your diet-not only increases your risk
of diabetes, but cancer, more colds, bad skin, weight gain and heart disease
as well.

Good Luck!

Hollywood's Rx For Eating Less!

                       Eat Less This Christmas!

Hollywood stars are always looking for the latest gadget, exercise program

or diet to help them maintain their weight.
One strategy that's making becoming popular again is smaller plates.
But just not smaller plates, but blue in color as well.

Why small, blue plates?
Because, they help you lose the urge to eat 15 mins. sooner.
Blue is a color least likely to stimulate appetite, mainly because
there aren't that many blue foods. Plus, it's said that blue helps
you relax and eating while relaxed, most likely means you'll eat less.
As for the smaller size plates- You'll eat about 230 fewer calories and
if a small plate is filled up, your brain brain says that's enough food and
you'll feel satisfied with that amount.

A few tips for kids: Some researchers say that hyperactive kids, (especially
boys) can control their outbursts and temper tantrums if you paint their
rooms blue. As stated earlier- blue has a relaxing effect on the central nervous
system. And for smaller plates- it's best to feed kids off of smaller plates, this helps
them control their appetites and trains them to eat just enough,   (so they won't
have to deal with weight gain and start the yo-yo dieting) as opposed to
giving them a large amount of food on a bigger plate and you getting upset if
they don't finish. And if they want more, give them more.

And if you want tips on how celebrities like Sofia Vergara, Jennifer
Aniston and Alicia Silverstone stay slim and trim, go to our regular
blog...SupermarketRxs@typepad.com. and read about them.

Good Luck!

Ellen's Fruit Rx To Beat Winter Weight Gain!

Eat This Not That To Prevent Winter Weight Gain!

For some, Winter weight gain is almost as natural as less sunlight
and cold temperatures. Why does it happen? Less sunlight,
shortened days, turning dark earlier, not motivated to exercise and of course
the endless holidays (with great food) don't help your cause.
So, should you give up and give in?

No, short of moving to Arizona, Calif. Australia or Florida, there's
something you can do. What is it?
Eat more avocados. Avocados?
That's right- T.V. host Ellen Degeneres reportedly lives on an avocado
farm and it may be the secret to avoiding weight gain this Winter.

Why avocados?
Half of an avocado a day can boost the two hormones responsible
for better moods to prevent mindless snacking.
 The hormones: Serotonin and Dopamine.
If you have a shortfall of these 2 hormones, you can expect-
weight gain, sour moods, temper tantrums and sudden outbursts.
And if that's not enough- avocados can also lower (bad) cholesterol,
increase sperm count (guys) and keep your skin as smooth as an 8 yr's old.

So, start looking for  some bargains on avocados at produce or grocery stores
or contact Ellen, via Twitter, Facebook or Youtube,

and tell her about your blue moods and weight gain,
and see if she'll donate some of her fruit to your cause.

Good Luck!
