Celebrity Chef's Rx To Look Years Younger!

Eat This To Look Yrs. Younger!

According to new research,  people with darker skin may have genes that protect their

skin from aging.
This isn't new research, have you ever heard the phrase "black don't crack?"
Well, it's a phrase that's been around for 30 yrs. and the almost 60 yr. old
Whoopi Goldberg always uses it on "The View."

And if you weren't born with dark skin like the Indians, Brazilians,
Portuguese, Pacific Islanders, South Americans, Italians or Africans
there's something you can do to change that.
What is that?
Eat a food that's mentioned and used on the Rachael Ray show quite frequently.

What food is it?
It's pine nuts.

That's right, the Italian chef (who's a few yrs. from turning 50) uses
the little known nuts to make pesto.
You know, the sauce which originated in Italy, that's made with pine nuts,
basil, olive oil and garlic and then served over spaghetti or a salad.
And if aging is something you want to postpone or even try to beat, then start eating

pine nuts.
Why these types of nuts?
The nuts contain age-proofing antioxidants that help fight inflammation that
shows on up your skin.

And there's more, if you do plan on using pine nuts for a pesto, use cilantro and

parsley as well as basil.
Parsley purifies your blood, which helps you look and feel younger and
cilantro- it removes toxins and heavy metals from your bloodstream, also

helping you look yrs. younger.
Another plus: a Tbs. or two of pine nuts before a meal
also helps you eat less food throughout the day. Also beneficial for looking younger.

And lastly, if you want to really stave off the aging process, go back and look
at some of our past articles on pumpkin (Uma Thurman's Rx For Looking Younger)
and other orange foods. (Butternut squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, acorn squash,
apricots, etc).
Orange foods give all women (and men) a fighting chance when it comes to looking yrs.
younger.

Head to Amazom.com/the kindle store and look for the following E-Documents...

T.V. Chef's Rx For A Beautiful Smile!

Rachael Ray's Tip For Whiter Teeth!

Did you happen to catch Rachael Ray's show yesterday?
Well, since it's the Holidays, she cooked a dish
that's related to the Holidays, the dish: Cranberry
Relish!

She didn't actually cook it, T.V. Chef Katie Lee
(The former Mrs. Billy Joel) made the dish.
And if you want a Hollywood smile but
don't have " Hollywood" money-then we suggest
you start using more cranberries in your daily menus.
Cranberries for one's smile?
Yes, but fresh cranberries mind you, not the sugar
laden stuff in the cans.

Cranberries have been used for decades to stop bacteria
from sticking to the urinary tract wall (UTIs)
but new research says they cranberries can also
stop bacteria from sticking to teeth and gums,
helping to prevent cavities and gingivitis.
And if that's not impressive enough, cranberries
can also zap harmful cells in your breasts.

So, if you were reluctant to use fresh cranberries this
Holiday season, maybe this post will change your mind.
Thanks Rachael Ray and Katie Lee.

Good Luck!

The Food Network's Barbecue Rx Just For Women!

                      Enjoy More Barbecue!

Ladies, are you fans of "The Food Network?"

Are you partial to Guy Fieri? Or is Rachael Ray
your favorite? Well, no matter whom you like,

you can learn a few things from each of the
hosts on the network.

The hosts may show you how to prepare a better tasting
burger, or how to make a cocktail that tastes like it
came from a high end restaurant in the South of France,
but can they teach you how summer grilling can improve

your health?
Improve your health? Yes, especially the health of a woman,
more specifically-breast health.

That's right- ladies, certain foods that you associate with
summer and barbecues, can do more than taste good,
they can keep breast cancer rates down.

Foods like...
a) Mustard-
Who doesn't love the yellow stuff all over a hot dog?
Well, that yellow stuff can stop potential cancer cells
from growing, while leaving healthy tissue unaffected.
Curcumin (which gives mustard that yellow color) is responsible
for shutting down cancer cells.
b) Black Pepper-

Add some black pepper to mustard and really shut down cancer
cells. Make a salad (potato) and add some pepper and mustard to it.
When combined, these spices turn each other into heat-seeking missiles,

targeting only cells that might be cancerous.
c) Sauerkraut-
Eat more of it and lower cancer rates. Popular in Poland, Germany
and South Korea (Kimchi) Fermenting the cabbage produces a powerful

cancer-fighting compound that helps prevent cancer cells from ever forming.
d) Marinate Your Meat-
Do you love the flames coming up through your grill?

If you do, you're increasing your odds of getting lung, colon and breast
cancer. To avoid this, either cook on low temperatures, or

marinate meat in a bowl with lemon juice, olive oil, garlic (fresh or powdered)
and beer for an hour. This helps form a protective wall around the meat,
shutting down production of cancer-causing chemicals called Heterocylic Amines.
Also helpful: have some beer (or wine) separately, it helps lower
blood pressure and boosts heart health.
e) Watch The Dogs-
As in hot dogs, this tip is for men much more than it is for women.
Eating foods high in salts and nitrates increases a man's risk of
prostate cancer by a lot. Look for chicken or turkey franks,
or try one from Healthy Choice or Applegate Farms beef franks.
Or just head to Youtube.com and type in how to make a veggie hot
dog in the search bar.
f) Onions-

One of the cheapest foods available today, and one of the most powerful.
Add to salads, or slice them and cook on the grill and lower breast
and prostate cancer (men) rates considerably.
f) More Mushrooms-

Trying to eat less red meat? Place some mushrooms on the grill.
Portobellos are almost like hamburger patties, and crimini mushrooms
(brown button) lower breast cancer rates by 30%.

Some outdoor grilling tips to help you live a little longer.

Good Luck!

Rachael Ray's Clutter Rx To End Candy Cravings!

                        Stop The Cravings!

Any fans of T.V. chef Rachael Ray out there?
If you are, then you're well aware of the segments
she does on getting rid of the clutter.

You may not know this, but a too-cluttered home
or work space can do more than make you look like a slob.
According to some researchers who've studied clutter,

they say too much of it can cause sex problems (as in no desire)
sleep problems, (seeing and smelling that pile of clothes by
the bedside, causes insomnia) and now cravings.

Cravings?

Yes, the Univ. of Minn. researchers say keep the desk
at your workplace or the desk at home littered with pens,

papers, books, magazines and other debris and it can cause
you to crave certain foods like candy sweets.
The researchers say that an untidy desk may cause
you to stress out more and that's what causes the cravings.
But, the researchers say clean up and keep your desk
tidy and you may be able to get those cravings under control.

Hey, it may sound like something that's too weird or too "out
there" but give it a try, your waistline will thank you.
And for those who want more info on clutter and sleeplessness.

Head to Amazon.com/the kindle store and look for an
E-Document called...The 99 Best Remedies To Overcome
Insomnia, Natural Alternatives to Ambien. Download it
and find some great, natural ways to get to sleep and stay asleep.

Rachael Ray's Rx For Leftover Easter Eggs!

                           Eat Those Easter Eggs!

Another Easter is long gone, and now you're left with all of those
boiled eggs. What do you do?
According to Rachael Ray, you use them up to make deviled eggs
or a salad.
And if you're from the camp that says "the yolk will raise my
cholesterol levels" stop it.

It's not true. In fact, a cholesterol reading of 300 is way better
than a blood pressure reading of 140 over 110.
That's right- your body makes 85% of its own cholesterol and
the other 15% comes from food and other things.
Especially foods like--toast (white bread), hash browns, (white potatoes)
a glass of sugary O.J, a danish, (white flour and sugar) and a cup of
coffee with 3 tsps. of sugar.
Aha, now you see where cholesterol comes from.

So, if you've been avoiding egg yolks and eating only the whites,
it's time to rethink that and use the whole egg and really boost your
health. Yes, an egg a day can help prevent thinning hair, stop bone loss,
help build muscle, or lose weight (belly fat) boost moods, save your
eyesight, keep your skin in tip-top shape, (prevent turkey necks)
and maintain a healthy heart.
Oh yes, that's not a misprint, eggs can do these things, plus much,
much more.

And if you need a head start, here's a recipe to get you started.
An egg, fish and avocado salad.
Take some leaves from Romaine lettuce, clean them and place
them on a platter. Get a can of tuna, or sardines, drain and rinse well
or salmon, (8 oz.  cooked) 1/2 cup of onions, sliced,
1/2 cup of avocado diced, 2 tbs. capers (optional)
Place all of these ingredients atop the lettuce leaves.
and the dressing...1/2 cup of olive oil, some lemon juice
and some apple cider mix in a separate bowl until well blended.
Pour this over the salad and serve to your guests.
Enough for 3 people.

This salad will help boost moods and help you lose weight.

That's it- a few tips to help you get over your fears of the
egg yolk. And if you want to know the details on how
eggs can preserve your eyesight, help future babies
develop super intelligence, or stop the dreaded "turkey neck"
read all about it. How? By heading to Amazon.com/the kindle
store and downloading a copy of The Easter Egg Hunt,
Use Leftover Boiled Eggs To Improve Your Health.

Plus, you'll learn how to tell when those eggs in the fridge
are still fresh.

See title below.
Don't let the fear of cholesterol
get in the way of your health or beauty.

Good Luck!

Rachael Ray's Rx For Great Skin!

                                 Eat More Burgers!

Are you bothered by cold sores? Do you get rid of
one and then another one reappears?
Well, believe it or not, it may be a deficiency. A deficiency
of iron and Zinc. And one way to get more iron and zinc is
by following Rachael Ray.

Well, not following her T.V. show, but cooking and then eating

one of her favorite foods...The Hamburger.
That's right- a trip to Jack n' The Box or Arby's
may be all the medicine you need.

Why burgers?
Lean burgers has lots of Zinc, which is vital to stop the cold sore
virus from reproducing, and maintaining good levels help cut down
on the risk of future outbreaks/ Plus, burgers have Iron, and Iron
boosts the immune system cells that block new cold-sore viruses from
taking up space on your mouth.
So, if you were feeling guilty about eating a burger or two a week,
don't be, it can keep cold-sores at bay.

And if you do decide to eat more beef (burgers and steaks) remember

these rules...
* make it grass-fed beef (it's a better quality of beef)
* Skip the white bread. White bread or poor quality bread is
yeast, and what does yeast do? It grows, into viruses,
White bread, sweets and soda, make your body the perfect
breeding grounds for futures cold-sore viruses.
* Add Garlic- love your burger or steak rare?
Well, avoid E coli by adding some powdered or real garlic
to your burger mixture or on top of your steak.
* Watch Rachael Ray, or visit her online if you need some
  burger recipes.

That's it- Another tip from the always delightful and helpful
Rachael Ray. And if you want to read more on the benefits of
burgers--head on over to our regular blog--SupermarketRxs@typepad.com.

Rachael Ray's Rx For A Better Winter Body!

                          Stay Slim This Winter!

Winter weight gain happens to a lot of people starting around Halloween,

why? Shorter days and nights, less sunlight, the cold weather outdoors,
and of course, the non-stop food choices from Oct. right up until Valentine's
day.
So, do you just live with it and get in shape in March?
No, you do what Ms. Ray did on her popular show and keep those
Winter pound away.
And what was the thing Ms. Ray did on her show?
She made soup.

That's right, soup has been popular in Japan for centuries and
it may be one of the reasons they don't struggle with weight issues
like their American counterparts.

Why is soup so effective?
The water in soup increases in volume and that volume helps activate
the stretch receptors in your stomach, helping you to feel fuller faster
and more satisfied.

Will any soup do?
No, not the types made with fattening meats, (beef or pork ribs), cheeses
and croutons. It's best to stick with soups made with beef or chicken
broths and a few types of vegetables.

Is Canned Soup Okay?
Yes, in fact, try the new brands of gluten-free soups from Progresso,
Wolfgang Puck, or Amy's Organics. Or go online to Google or Bing
and type in recipes for low-cal soups.

When should you eat the soup?
It's best to eat the soup 30 to 40 mins. before a big meal or before
attending a big event, (A Christmas party).

That's it, your Rx for staying slim and trim this Winter.

Good Luck!

Rachael Ray's Rx For Women's Health!

                              Cook Like Rachael!

Rachael Ray takes a lot of heat for the type of cooking she does...
you know the burgers, the pasta and the bread to make sandwiches.
But hold on, there's one dish Ms. Ray makes that's not only tastes great,
but is good for you.
What is it? It's a number of vegetables cooked in a roasting pan in the oven.

The vegetables which total about nine, is also great for women's health.

How?
According to new research, women, particularly American women aren't
getting anywhere near the 5 to 9 servings of vegetables they should be getting,
and eating this many servings can benefit your health in a lot of ways like...
a) Help prevent breast cancer, cervical, colon and uterine cancer.
b) Help stave off the aging process,
c) Keeps skin smooth youthful and firm.
d) Lower stroke risk
e) Keep arthritis at bay.
f) Prevent headaches, especially migraines.
g) Prevent blue moods and other mind disorders
h) Keeps dementia and Alzheimer's at bay/
Plus, much more, so look below and get the recipe from Rachael Ray
and improve your health immediately.

Rachael Ray's Roasted Vegetables with Rosemary!

Ingredients:
It's up to you, buy Fall vegetables like parsnips, turnips, butternut squash,
carrots, eggplant, green and yellow squash, sweet potatoes and white
button mushrooms.

5 to 6 garlic cloves (smashed)
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil.
3 tbsps. finely chopped fresh rosemary
Sea salt and fresh pepper (ground)

Turn on the oven to 400 degrees, chop up the vegetables,
(important tip- harder vegetables should be put in first and
the softer vegetables-eggplant, green and yellow squash after a few
mins. of cooking).  Toss the vegetables, garlic, olive oil and rosemary
into a deep roasting pan, cover with foil and cook for 5 to 10 mins.
And lastly, put in the softer vegetables and cook for another 5 to 8 mins.
Poke the vegetables with a fork to check their tenderness.
Let the vegetables cool and eat them as is, or add grated parmesan or
romano cheese. Or add some cooked tomato sauce, or put some
of the vegetables over brown rice and add some low-sodium soy sauce.

That's it- And don't ever let it be said again, that Rachael Ray doesn't
cook anything that's good for your health.

Rachael Ray's Food Rx To Stop Brain Aging!

                                  Cook Like Rachael Ray!
Rachael Ray the popular and affable cook, author and T.V. host,
cooked only vegetables on her "30 Minute Meals" show today.
Why is this news?
Ms. Ray is known for her love of cooking meat and one of the vegetables'
featured on today's show was Eggplant.

Again, why is this news?

Eggplant can help turn back the clock on your brain.
Not, the white part of the eggplant, but the skin of the eggplant.

Eggplant contains compounds called nasunin, found in the eggplant skin-
wards off damage to brain cell membranes. That's important since the membrane
protects the brain cells from harmful free radicals and allows vital nutrients to
enter, helping the brain function at optimal levels.

So, if you weren't an eggplant eater before, perhaps the above info will change your mind.

And for the Eggplant steak recipe featured on Ms. Ray's show today,
go to the FoodNetwork.com site and look for Rachael Ray, 30 Minute Meals.

Good Luck!
