T.V. Doc's Rxs For A Healthier Summer!

                    Dr/ Oz's Picnic Rxs!

Hey, if you watched Dr. Oz yesterday, then you know it was all about the Summer.
More specifically- foods and beverages you consume during the months of

June thru Sept.

And even though he gave some tips on the best types of
condiments, coleslaw and hot dogs you should buy, he left out something very important.
That something:
How these foods can benefit your health.

Wait, ketchup can benefit one's  health?
In a word, Yes, and if you're one who likes to grill and entertain, then make
sure to keep this info on hand.
a) Mustard-
Yellow mustard can help end heartburn and prevent female cancers
.Mix mustard, olive oil and black pepper and you'll shut
down cancer cells before they get a chance to start doing damage.

Use this as a marinade on chicken or to dress a salad.
b) Ketchup-

Avoid the sugar-laden varities and go for the organic brands.
Doing so means you reduce your odds of getting skin cancer.
Red foods (watermelon, red grapefruit, plums and tomatoes)
all contain lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that protects the skin
from the inside out.
c) Buns-
If you're still eating bread, make sure you dole out a little more (like the ketchup)

and buy whole grain rolls and buns.
Why?

You reduce your odds of getting endometrial cancer. The fiber in these types of
rolls bind to chemicals in the digestive tract and force them to be excreted.
d) Coleslaw-
Made with healthy fats and spices, this side dish can greatly increase your odds you'll
never get
breast cancer and it (coleslaw) can also help you live an extra 5, 10 or more
yrs longer.

Need proof- Raw food advocate and actress Cloris Leachman,
says she eats a healthy version of coleslaw 2 to 3 times a wk. Her age: 91.
Sauerkraut also works.
e) Onions-
Grilled (on low heat, not charred) or raw can help you prevent food poisoning
(from bad chicken or mayonnaise that's been left out too long).

Plus, onions reduce your odds of getting a number of cancers by 85%.
d) Beer-

Still undecided about beer--is it good for you or should you avoid
it? As the guest on Dr. Oz said yesterday, 1 a day provides your body
with all kinds of antioxidants, and those antioxidants can keep

bones strong, your skin firm and smooth and your hair full and luxurious.
Ever hear of a beer shampoo? Exactly.
Plus, beer can be used to marinate meat, chicken or fish, doing this
and then grilling one or all of these foods will lower the odds the
carcinogens (substances capable of causing cancer) from the grill
will enter into your system.

So, if you're still not sure if coleslaw, hot dog buns, grilled onions
or a cold brew
are okay to eat and drink , just look below for
