That's right-the tropical fruit is eaten and used in Bali- by the women to
maintain
their beautiful bodies and complexions.
And now, Ms. Berry is a big fan of the tropical fruit.

Why is papaya so good for legs?
Papaya contains powerful enzymes, called papains, which stimulate
collagen production and slough off the top layer of dead skin cells to reveal
softer and firmer skin.

Grab a fresh papaya, some plain yogurt and some plastic wrap.
Take the papaya, scoop out the seeds and discard them. Next, scrape

Jessica Alba's Rx For Homemade Green Products!

That something: The welfare of her kids and kids everywhere.

More specifically- Ms. Alba is concerned that all of the baby wipes,
hand sanitizers, baby powders and other products that are supposed
to be "good" for your baby acutally contain harmful chemicals,

that can cause serious health problems for you and your baby.
That's why Ms. Alba decided to do something about it- she
started her own line of "green" baby products.

Although we're not sure what types of products will be included in this

line, we want to warn you about a product that's used in millions
of homes daily,  and may be putting your and your familys' health at risk,
the product: Air Freshners.
According to research- breathing in the fumes from air freshners over a long
period of time, can increase risks for everything from respiratory problems
to breast cancer. Yes, breast cancer!

So, do you forgo the air freshners and risk a smelly house (bathroom)?
Or do you look below and make your own with the homemade air freshners-
listed below?

Homemade Air Freshners:
1) Vanilla Air Freshner-
Take a jar (clean) that has a lid on it,  now take a few cotton balls,
pour some vanilla extract onto the cotton balls. Place the cotton balls
into the jar, close the jar, and puch some holes in the lid.

Use this in a closet, leave it in the bathroom or in a child's room.
Another benefit of vanilla: It'll help stop a craving. Next time you crave
something sweet, take in the scent of a vanilla-soaked cotton ball.

Change the cotton balls after a few days.
2) Stovetop Air Freshner-
Expecting guests in a short time and the house smells funky?
Get out a small saucepan- pour in a 1/2cup of water, and add some
vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. Let this simmer while you're
waiting for your guests. Or try the Italian medley- add parsley,
basil leaves, oregano and some marjoram to a 1/2 cup of water.
One downside to this Rx- the downside: Your guests may expect
a sweet treat or a bowl of pasta.
Make sure to watch the water- so it doesn't evaporate away.
3) Essential Oils-
Jasmine, Chamomile or Roses can be purchased at health food
stores as essential oils. Buy some and place on your light bulbs.
Light bulbs in the bedroom , living room and bathroom.  When the
bulbs heat up, the scent will permeate the room.
4) Homemade Spray-
Giving up air freshners will be difficult for some of you, but here's
a suitable replacement...Combine 1/8 cup baking soda with 2 cups
water, place in a spray bottle. Add 10 drops of one or all of the essential
oils mentioned in tip no. 3. Close up the btl. and shake vigorously.

Spray this mixture after using the bathroom or after cooking
fish and/or onions.

                 New Orleans Favorite Vegetable For Better Health!
Do you plan on attending Mardi Gras next month? Well, Mardi Gras is held
in New Orleans every Februaury and it's also where popular T.V. host Ellen
Degeneres grew up.
If you're familiar with New Orleans, then you're probably aware of Gumbo.
You know, the soup or stew that originated in southern Louisiana,
about 300 yrs. ago.
One of the ingredients in gumbo- is a vegetable that many people
try hard to avoid mainly because of  the gooey liquid that seeps out,
when you cut it.

What is that vegetable? Okra!
Avoding okra because of the sliminess is a big mistake.
Cooking it the right way will quickly convert you from a okra hater
into a okra lover,  and it can benefit your health in a number of ways.
Like...

1) A Diet Aid-
Okra contains fiber and it's the missing ingredient in too many
American diets, and too little fiber results in extra weight.

Maria Menounous' Rx For A Leaner Burger!

                         Get Fit Like Maria!
Maria Menonous, the slim, attractive, cohost of the nightly
entertainment show-"Extra" once carried 40 extra pounds on
her 5' 8" frame.
How did she take it off and how does she keep it off?
Maria didn't follow any specific plan, she learned dozens of
weight loss tips from the many fitness magazines-she devoured
over the yrs.

And to keep it off (for a decade now) she still doesn't follow any
specific plan, but she does eat fresh fruits and veggies, lean meats,

whole grains, nuts, seeds and beans.
And she also admits that she indulges her favorites...like
Oreos, a cheeseburger and ice cream on occasion.

Another fact about Maria: Her dad contracted diabetes,
even though he maintained a normal weight and wasn't a
glutton at the kitchen table.
So, Maria's mom had to read labels and really change
her style of cooking. The following recipe is a favorite
of Maria's and her dad.
Maria calls it- Mom's Delicious Veggie Pattie!

The Ingredients:
1 can (15 oz. ) white navy beans (drain the liquid, then rinse)

1/4 cup dried bread crumbs (look for a good quality bread crumb)
1/2 cup cholled onions
2 gloves garlic (peeled and diced)
1/8 cup chopped fresh parsley)
2 Tbs. extra virgin olive oil.
The Recipe:
Heat a grill and grease it (lightly) with olive or coconut oil.
In the food processor, combine the navy beans, the onions, garlic,
parsley, and olive oil. Pulse 5 times. Divide mixture into 4 patties.
Now, place the patties on the grill and grill for 4 mins.
Turn the patties over when the patties are lightly brown.
That' it- The patties come in at a lean 225 calories each (without buns)
and 8 grams of fat. Add some spicy mustard or horseradish, or ketchup
to your patty.

Enjoy this burger a few times a week and cut down on the amount
of meat you eat. Your budget will thank you as will your waistline.

The Biggest Loser's Rx For A Healthy Heart!

                           A Food Rx For A Healthy Heart!
NBC's big hit-"The Biggest Loser" is already back for another season,
just in time to help viewers get in shape for Spring and Summer.

One of the most popular segments is when they teach the participants
how to cook and prepare food-without all of the fat and calories.
One dessert they gave the participants (on a past show)
was not only great tasting, but heart healthy as well.

The dessert: "Biggest Loser Raisin' the Bar Brown Rice Pudding!"

Rice Pudding good for you? Absolutely!
In fact, eating brown rice (not white) can help keep harmful plaque
from attaching to delicate artery walls. And less plaque means a lower
chance of having a heart attack.
So, look below, and make this less harmful decadent dessert
for family and friends.

The Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups fat-free milk
1 1/4 cups cooked short-grain brown rice*
1 cup fat-free evaporated milk, 12 oz. can
1/3 cup light agave nectar
2 omega-3 eggs, lighlty beaten
2 tbsps. cornstarch
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 cup raisins
*Soak the brown rice in cold water for 30 to 60 mins. before cooking-why?
Soaking causes the rice to germinate, which more than doubles the
concentration of nutrients, minerals, fiber and antioxidants.

The Directions:
Place medium nonstick pot over medium heat.
Add fat-free milk, rice, evaporated milk, agave nectar,
eggs, cornstarch, and vanilla to pot. Cook mixture, stirring
constantly, about 5 to 7 mins. or until thickened to consistency
of a thick gravy (but not as thick as a pudding); it will thicken slightly
even more when refrigerated.
Divide mixture evenly among 8 (1/2 cup)  or 4 (1 cup)
ramekins or custard cups. Divide raisins among them.
Allow to cool to room temperature. Cover and refrigerate
ramekins for about 4 hrs. or overnight. And just before
serving, stir the rice pudding to distribute raisins evenly.

Calories for 1/2 cup- 180
Calories for a full cup- 360
Fat 2 g. for 1/2 cup
Fat 4 g. for 1 cup.
Trans fat- O g.
Cholesterol for a 1/2 cup- 54 mg.
Cholesterol for a full cup- 108 mg.

That's it- A low-cal treat from one of television's biggest hits.
Enjoy it now and show off your "beach body" in 4 or 5 months.

Kelly Ripa's Rx For Wearing Heels!

Kelly Ripa-the popular host of the morning show-"Live With Kelly"
has made it known she Loves high heels.


At 5'2"-Ms. Ripa has said "she needs all the help she can get."
If you're also a "high heel lover" make sure you're doing the
exercise that'll let you keep wearing them.


The exercise: Stretching your calves.
If you don't do this exercise, over time you'll end up with thick, stiff Achilles'
tendons-plus muscle fibers that are 15% shorter, making it harder to
walk flat-footed.

To do the exercise... Stand on a step and let your heels hang over
the edge and raise and then lower your heels, slowly. (With or Without your heels)
Do this for a min. to start and work up to 2 to 3 mins.
Do this a couple times a week and you should be able
to wear your heels without any problems.

Get Arms Like The First Lady's!

                Get Arms Like Michelle Obama!

There's a lot to admire about the first lady- her height, her committment
to kids, her love for her own kids and of course-her arms.
When she went "sleeveless" to a special event, she received a lot of criticism.
But, a lot of people loved it and said- "with arms like that-she
should show them off."

Well, here are 3 exercises that the first lady does, and if you start doing
them, maybe people will call you a "sleeveless wonder!"

Here are the exercises:
1) Chair Dips!
Is fat starting to hang off the underside of your arms?
Grab a sturdy chair, sit on the edge of it and place hands,
fingers facing forward, by your thighs. Keeping knees bent, scoot
forward so your rear end is hovering in front of the edge of the chair.
Inhale, bend your arms and lower your rear end, stopping when
upper arms are parallel to the floor. Exhale and push yourself
up, straightening your arms. Start with 2 sets of 5 reps, and work
your way up to 2 sets of 10 reps.  As you get stronger-extend your

legs all of the way out. This helps the dreaded "bat wings."
No more waving your hands and the skin under your arms continues
to wave.
2) Bicep Curls!
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart while holding a 5 or 8 lb. 

weight in each hand. Curl your left hand up toward your left shoulder,
do it in a slow deliberate motion. Lower it just as slowly and repeat the
same thing with your right hand.
Do 5 to 8 reps with each arm. As you get stronger, increase
the weight, with a few more pounds. No more though- you don't want
to look like Ryan Gosling.
3) Shoulder Blaster!
Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, hold a 3 or 5 lb.
weight in each hand. With palms down, slowly lift your right arm
to shoulder-height;  then slowly lower it.
Repeat on the other side, and alternate for 2 sets of 8 reps. each.
And if you want shoulders to match your arms, lift your arms
(one at a time) as if your flying, bring the weight up to your
shoulder and then lower. Do 5 reps, each side.

One more tip- if you don't own weights, that's okay,
just use water bottles, soup cans or empty bleach bottles,
now filled with water.

Start these exercises now, and with a simple diet plan,
and some cardio work,  you too, can show off your
arms-come Spring.

Beyonce's Dessert Rx For An Embarrassing Problem.

                     Beyonce's Favorite Treat!
If you read a post we did on singer Beyonce a while back then you're
aware that she mentioned gelatin as something that's sweet, tasty and low-cal
and it helps her control her weight.
Well, there's another benefit of gelatin and you won't have to eat it.

The benefit: It'll help you or a loved one eliminate foot odor.
To make your own gelatin foot bath, head to your Supermarket
and pick up a few boxes of Lime-flavored gelatin.
(I'm not sure why, but Lime gelatin seems to work best).

Mix one package of lime gelatin in a bowl,  add the amount of water
recommended on the box, (hot, not boiling) and stir.

Place the gelating and hot water into a larger bowl or basin,
add some cold water ( about 1 cup) and stir some more.
Remove your socks and place your feet in, sit back and relax
for about 15 to 20 mins.  Take your feet out and dry with a towel.

This works thanks to the citrus additives, they absorb the
odor, leaving your feet smelling clean and citrusy.


Tea- black tea to be exact also works, just don't leave your
feet in too long, or the tea may stain them.

That's it- a sweet solution for an embarrassing problem.

Wendy Williams Rx For Firming Up!

Wendy Williams the outspoken and (loud) talk show host makes no secret
of her struggles with weight. The reason for that struggle: she loves food.
Fortunately, Ms. Williams engages in an activity that helps keep her slim,

and firms up her thighs to boot.

The activity: Playing basketball!
How does basketball help with over-all slimming?
Jogging back and forth, the jumping activates deep muscle fibers
in the quadriceps and hamstrings. This helps creates definition
in the back of the legs and helps get rid of those jiggling thighs,


And to really make basketball work for you, make sure when you
shoot to push through your shoulders while fully extending both
of your arms overhead. This action will improve your shot
accuracy and define your chest, giving a boost to your bust area.

So, if you want thinner thighs and a firmer chest, do what Wendy Williams
does and hit the court, The basketball court.
Also important: If you haven't exercised in awhile, it's best to go slow
when starting out.

Amy Adams Slimming Pancake Rx!

"The Muppets"and "The Fighter" loves pancakes.
What she doesn't love is  the calories.

So, she  did some research and came up with this
recipe that not only tastes great, but is low calorie as well.
Listed below is her recipe.

The Amy Adams Pancake Recipe:
1/2 cup plain rolled oats (preferably steel-cut)
1/2 cup fat-free cottage cheese
2 egg whites.
Mix well and pour a small amount into a hot skillet
that's been preheated with Pam baking spray.
This mixture should make about 3 small pancakes.
Or if you want to avoid making your own,
look for a pancake mix loaded with protein.
