Top Star's Rx For Beating Winter Cravings!

                           Stop The Winter Cravings!

It's no secret many of us have more cravings in the Winter- more than any other time
of the year, and why is that you ask?
Less sunlight, being stuck indoors, not able to or willing to exercise
outside and of course, the endless array of (fattening) food, from Halloween
to Valentine's day.
And if you're one of the millions who struggle with this every yr. then you may
want to adopt the food secret one of America's favorite stars uses not only to
keep appetite under control, but hopefully live a few yrs. longer.

First, the star:
Cameron Diaz
and her food secret: Oatmeal.

That's right, Ms. Diaz who takes her health very seriously learned that
oatmeal contains a number of benefits- in terms of longevity and improved
health.
Plus, new research says that those struggling with an out-of-control

appetite (especially during the Winter) should start each day with a
bowl of good quality (slow-cooked) oatmeal.
Don't believe it?
Google Minnesota Oatmeal club. Started by moms, teachers, sisters
and wives- this group of women noticed and then charted their success stories
online with regards to Oatmeal.

And why is oatmeal such a boon to one's appetite and weight?
It contains a special type of fiber that helps keep blood sugar
steady,  and this in turn, causes the body to produce less
belly-fattening insulin and it also helps fight hunger.
Again, the special fiber called beta-glucan stimulates responses in the
mouth that reduces your hunger, as the day goes on.
Some women have said, that they're not hungry at 11:00 am or even 1:00 pm.
And something more astonishing, some women have said that as the days
and weeks passed, they stopped craving burgers, fries, candy, hot dogs and pizza.
Yes, it (oatmeal) can even help kill cravings.
And lastly, if weight isn't an issue- you may want to eat more oatmeal for some other
benefits like...
A boost in Immunity-
fight off cold viruses and diseases by eating more oatmeal
Lower your odds of getting breast cancer-
pytochemicals in oatmeal- help optimize a woman's hormone levels,
reducing breast cancer risk by up to 60%.
Boost energy levels-
The women who started each day with oatmeal, say oatmeal boosted
their energy levels and put an end to their procrastinating.
So, if you're looking a for "a natural diet pill" look no farther than that
box of oatmeal on your supermarket shelf.
And if you don't have time to cook, (or wait) and want to use
instant oatmeal, just make sure to add some protein to it. Why?
(an egg or two, some plain yogurt, or a few slices of turkey or chicken breast)

Protein slows digestion, helping the instant oats provide you with the same
slimming benefits you'll get from the slow-cooked kind.

Look for more on Cameron Diaz and anti-aging by heading online to Amazon.com/the
kindle store and typing The 101 Best Ways To Make It To 100.
Type the title into the search bar and learn how Ms. Diaz, Clint Eastwood,

Cloris Leachman, footballer Herschel Walker, and Tom Selleck all plan on living till
100 and beyond.

Good Luck!

A Simple Rx For Music Lovers!

                              Get Rid Of Earworms!

What are "Earworms" you ask?
You know,  a song that plays non-stop in your head.
And if you plan on getting some Christmas shopping done today,
you're probably gonna get an earworm or two.
And how do you stop the song "Hello" or "I Can't
Feel My Face" out of your head?

Stick a piece of gum in your mouth.

Gum?
Yes, that's right, scientists tried a number of things and then settled on
gum as the best way to get Adele out of your head.

The scientists say that gum chewing activates your brain in a way that's
similar to talking to yourself.
And because of that, it shifts your focus and allows your mind to move past
the non-stop song and back into the present moment.

So remember, if you plan on hitting a mall or staying home to clean,
chew some gum and you'll be able to say Goodbye to Hello.

Good Luck!

potato pies at Walmart. The pies are selling so well, some enterprising minded
people are bringing the pie homes and reselling them for astronomical prices.

2 cups of sweet potato, puree
1 can of condensed milk, Sweetened
2 eggs

1/2 stick of butter (melted)
1 Tbs. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. of each ground cloves, cinnamon and ginger

Pour this into your pie crust and place the pie plate on a cookie sheet (in case
of spilling) Place the pie in the oven, reduce the temperature to 325 and bake for
40 to 45 minutes. Check on the pie to make sure the crust doesn't brown
too quickly. (if it does, cover the crust with aluminum foil) Remove the pie when
it's no longer jiggly or insert a toothpick in the center and if the toothpick is clean,
then you'll know the pie is done.
Allow the pie to cool and serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
And for the adults, you can add a little bourbon to the whipped or ice cream.

Wrap separately in plastic food bags. Seal tightly and refrigerate it until you're ready
to use it. Or place it in the freezer for later use. If you do place the dough in the freezer,

T.V. Chef's Rx For The Juiciest Turkey Ever!

                             Recipe For The Perfect Turkey!

If you're a fan of the Food network, then you're well aware that we (the viewing
public) will be hit with an onslaught of Thanksgiving day recipes and tips
in the next 2 wks.
And if you enjoy these types of shows, then by all means, continue to watch.
But, if you're not a fan or just don't have the time, that's okay as well.

And if you plan on making turkey, and want a recipe for the "juiciest turkey"
ever, copy this recipe from none other than Food network star, Ree Drummond.

AKA the "Pioneer Woman" says that brining your turkey first, is the key to a
turkey that's succulent and brimming with flavor.

What is brining, you ask?
Soaking or saturating the turkey (meat) in a salty solution for a day or two before cooking it.
And the Pioneer woman's best brine for your turkey is...
Ingredients:
3 cups of apple juice or cider (not vinegar)
2 gallons of cold water
2 cups of brown sugar
1 1/2 cup kosher salt
1/4 cups fresh rosemary leaves
3 Tbs. peppercorns
6 cloves of garlic
5 whole bay leaves
the peel of 3 or 4 large oranges and get as pith (the white part)
as you can.
Directions:
Place all of the ingredients in a large pot, turn on the heat and simmer just
until the sugar and salt dissolve. Turn off the heat, and let it cool completely.

Next,   look for a pan, tub, pail, whatever--something that can
accommodate a 10, 15, or 20 pound turkey.  Place the turkey into the pot, pan, tub,
plastic bag, whatever, and then the brine, cover and leave in the refrigerator
or if you're lucky enough to live in Alaska, Minnesota or Buffalo N.Y. (colder
environments)
place the bird and brine on an outdoor porch or tool shed for a day or two.
(make sure no wildlife can get to it, cats, dogs, wolves, bears, or Raccoons).
And in a day or two, discard the brine, pat dry the turkey,
add some melted butter or oil, spices and herbs to it and then cook it.
Another great tip: place the turkey on the lowest rack, why?
Heat rises and if it (the turkey)  is at top of the oven it'll cook too fast.
Another great tip: From Wolfgang Puck and Rita Wilson, (Mrs. Tom Hanks)
place the turkey breast-side down. Why? All of the juices flow to the bottom,
which will make the breasts (white meat) much more juicier.

That's it- a recipe for the "juiciest turkey ever" courtesy of the Pioneer Woman!
And if you want more great tips from some of your favorite chefs, head on over

to Amazon.com/the kindle store and type, see title to the right
in the search bar and download it.

                               Dr. Oz's  Tips For Women!

If you're still watching Dr. Oz, good for you. It's been on for 7 yrs. now, so
the audience numbers may not be the same as they were in the first 2 or 3 yrs.
And if you watched the show on Friday, then you know the good doctor
talked about tart cherry juice and facial hair.

And if you're wondering, cherry juice and facial hair, how or what can I learn
about either of these things from Dr. Oz?
Well, first up- the tart cherry juice.
Singer Kellie Pickler  mentioned on Ellen that she suffers from insomnia.
And a great way to end insomnia- tart cherry juice. Pour a few Tbs. into a
glass of water an hour before bedtime and sleep through the night.
Another benefit of tart cherry juice- It helps ends the frequent trips to the
bathroom. (great for men)

A Stylist's Rx For Picking The Perfect Jeans!

Choosing Jeans That Flatter Your Body!

A lot of stars enjoy wearing great looking gowns to attend certain events, and
then there are a lot of stars who just prefer to wear their jeans, a T-shirt
and some comfortable shoes (sneakers).

And if you're the type that prefers the "jeans" over ball gowns, then make sure
you choose a pair that flatters your figure.
Not sure how to do that?
Well, look at the tips below, they're from a Hollywood stylist who has helped plenty
of stars find that "perfect-fitting" pair of jeans.
a) Begin With This-
The perfect foundation. Dark-colored jeans that flare slightly from the knee
to ankle (like boot cut to straight leg styles) without heavy whiskering
or rips are the most shape-flattering cuts you can find.
b) Buy The Right Shoes-
Yea, toy may prefer kicks with your jeans, but to really bring out the best look,
it's best you wear a pointy-toed shoe. These types of shoes (with at least 1/2 "
heel) help lengthen your leg lines, helping you look taller and leaner.

c) Accessories-
Accessorize with a colorful scarf or a necklace. Doing so will bring the focus
up to your face and visually thin out your torso.
d) Choose The Right Top-
You have shoes and a scarf, now it's time to pick your top.
Choose a blouse or tunic that's open and loose, and skims loosely over the stomach
and ends just below your hips.
d) Where to Shop-
You can find all types of jeans online at places like Zappos.com,
or FullBeauty.com, Jaclyn Smith at Kmart.com or Chadwicks.com.

Good Luck!

Simple Tips To Prevent Cancer!

6 Tips To Keep Cancer At Bay!

If you think Hollywood stars have it easier when it comes to cancer prevention,
you're wrong.
Cancer doesn't care whether you live in Beverly Hills, Cal. and earn millions of dollars
or if you live in Kirkland Washington, and earn about 40,000 dollars each yr.

And if you're into pop and celebrity culture, then you're well aware that a number
of stars are cancer survivors. (Christine Applegate, Hoda Kotb,  and Brook Burke
Charvet).

Okay, now that you know cancer doesn't discriminate, it's time to do something about it,
and that something: six simple steps and these steps come from top doctor, Mark Hyman, M.D.
His six tips:
a) Ditch Sugar-
Impossible? Not so. Dr. Hyman says an occasional piece of birthday cake or wedding cake
is okay, but flooding your body with candy, having a  daily danish and a sweet treat at night
on a daily basis is a recipe not only for cancer, but diabetes,  frequent colds,
bad skin, (acne and eczema) and cravings (which may lead to obesity).
b) Food Sensitivities-
Simply put, read labels. If a food has more than 3 ingredients listed on it, then it may be
a food or beverage you should avoid. Foods that contain a whole list of ingredients
to help preserve them, may be doing the opposite to your health. Another way to avoid this-
start cooking and preparing more of your own meals, so you know exactly what's going into them.

c) Reduce Inflammation-
Think of inflammation as someone standing or sitting next to you and sneezing without covering
their mouth. That what inflammation is- that sneeze that goes everywhere, into your joints,

organs, tissue, and arteries. And you can reduce inflammation by eating better,  stop drinking
and smoking, ( 1 drink a day is okay)
getting more sleep, (especially from 11:00 pm to 2:00 am). exercising more and drinking

top quality teas (without sugar and a danish)
d) Reduce Toxic Exposure-

Almost impossible, but it can be minimized. Stop using all types of household cleaners,
(Mr. Clean, pine-sol, Lysol, oven cleaners, etc. ) This also goes for personal hygiene
items, certain types of candles,  cooking foods at high temperatures (without a fan)
and on and on. And what do you use instead? You can go online to Google.com
and type how to make a natural bug spray, deodorant, toothpaste, or oven cleaner.
And if money isn't an issue- go to Honest.com and look for all-natural products
there. (and yes, it's the company started and managed by actress Jessica Alba).

As for the outdoor exposures- the smoke and fumes from buses, cabs, factories,
etc. you may want to think about moving (if you're exposed to these things) or wear a
gas or cloth mask while you're out.
e) Change Your Thoughts-
Again something that may seem impossible. Are you angry with a co-worker,

or a friend (who's owed you money for yrs.) or a family member?
Believe it or not, negative thoughts just like a poor diet and smoking can cause havoc on
your immune system. So, how does one go about changing the negative self-talk?
You can go to Google.com for some answers or watch youtube videos on meditating

or changing one's thoughts or you may want to find a therapist in your area, who can help you
learn to forgive and forget.
f) Drink More-
Water. Believe it or not, water can flush out a lot of toxins and impurities that
may develop into cancer. In fact, one doctor prescribed a few glasses of water
right after getting up in the morning to avoid cancer and other health issues.

One warning- doing this (especially in the beginning) may lead to frequent
trips to the bathroom, nos. 1 and 2) just space out the water breaks and make sure
you're drinking a top quality of water.

That's it- 6 simple things you can do to keep yourself cancer-free.

Good Luck!

Well, if you think a big bank account, a flashy car,  a body that's resembles
the Greek Gods or being a brooding, moody bad boy is what women want
you may be right.

But wait, that's only a small percentage of women, the majority of women
want someone complementary, kind, attentive, funny, hardworking, ambitious

Give up?
It's Gwen Stefani!
Yes, the superstar singer and voice coach is now revealing secrets about her marriage
and why it didn't work.
And those secrets:
She was tired of being put down, belittled and criticized.
She also says that she felt like she was in prison and now she's been released,
released into the arms of kind and loving Blake Shelton.
And yes, there are those who will say "come on" Blake is 6'5" tall, good looking
with dimples, sings and has a bank account overflowing with money.
But hold on, according to insiders who watched the romance blossom,
they (the insiders)say  those aren't the things that swept Ms. Stefani off her feet.

Okay, so what were the things that convinced and captivated her?
People who know Mr. Shelton say he is as kind, complementary, helpful, attentive
funny and affectionate as he is tall, in other words a whole lot.
And if you "can't find or keep the woman of your dreams" perhaps you better

No playing the field,  no juggling 2 or 3 women, because doing so  will only make you a

dirtbag.

And one last tip- If you are new married or planning on getting married
and you want it to last, head on over to DailyMail.co.uk and scroll
down to an article about marriage. Look for the article that starts with
the sentence--You don't truly know your partner for three years.

The Holiday Food Rxs For Looking Youthful!

                           Eat Your Way Beautiful!

On today's Ellen Degeneres show- she had on Martha Stewart.
And if you didn't see it, then you missed her cooking segment.
What type of cooking?
Ms. Stewart made wraps, more specifically- vegetable-filled wraps.

The wraps were made especially for Ellen, a vegan and Drew Barrymore,
a vegetarian.
And if you're a "healthy" eater for any reason, (to maintain weight, look younger,
give you more energy, etc.)
then you may be surprised that Thanksgiving dinner can boost health and
help you look younger as well.
Thanksgiving dinner?
Yes, and if you need proof, continue reading...

a) Sweet Potatoes-

Eaten plain or with a little butter, honey and spices- the orange tubers can help
fade those wrinkles and even prevent them.

That's right, a leading anti-aging expert says that foods high in vitamin A
may be all the medicine you need for a youthful and taut complexion.
And sadly, too many woman avoid or neglect the high vitamin-A rich foods, and doing so
invites the fine lines and deep wrinkles.
So, eat some sweet potatoes, carrots, apricots, or pumpkin and become
your own version of "Benjamin Button."
b) Cranberries-
Want stronger teeth and gums? Eat cranberries.
Cranberries stop infection-causing bacteria from sticking to your teeth and gums.
And less bacteria in your mouth means you lower the risk of gingivitis and cavities.
And one last tip: make sure to eat fresh cranberries. Canned cranberries
and all of that sugar only makes things worse- for your mouth.
Look for recipes to make fresh cranberries online.
c) Yams-

Are you getting up there in age? Is menopause making life unbearable?
Then start eating yams. The darker skin tubers can increase your levels
of protective hormones by a whopping 25%, and lower the levels of harmful hormones.
Plus, balancing hormones lowers your odds of becoming obese,  frail (osteoporosis)
and cancer ridden.
One more tip- It's rumored that a village in Nigeria, where the women eat yams
almost everyday of the wk. give birth to twins and triplets at higher rates than
women anywhere else in the World.
Again, yams balance hormones and those balanced hormones may produce
multiple births.
Bake yams in the oven and eat with some honey, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg
and allspice.
d) Turkey-
No, turkey isn't fattening. Although it can be when you add stuffing, gravy, rolls,
Mac & Cheese, canned cranberries and a slice of sweet potato, or pumpkin
or pecan, but eat it alone and you can boost hair growth.

That's right- turkey contains amino acids that reduce breakage, strengthen follicles,
and increases keratin (the protein that gives hair its shine).
And something even better- if your hair suffers from too much heat- (curling

irons, or the Sun) over-processing or frequent dye jobs eat more turkey.
What type of turkey works best? Dark meat is more beneficial for your hair.
Save up the white meat and eat it if you want to dream up something creative.
(like a screenplay.
That's it- the real benefits of Thanksgiving dinner. The beauty benefits.

Good Luck!

Morning Show's Rx For Your Holiday Cooking!

                              Make Tasty Side Dishes!

All this week the "Today show" is all about Thanksgiving...
Thanksgiving cooking.
Monday's show featured chef Curtis Stone making (in his words and
the cohosts' words, "the juiciest turkey ever."

And on this morning's show- co-host Carson Daly's  main squeeze-Suri Pinter.
and her specialty--Side dishes.
If you're one who makes the same old mashed potatoes, or green beans, or
plain rice, why not add a few spices, herbs, cheeses and fruits to some old time
favorite side dishes.

Not sure how? Just look below...
1) Gravy-
Don't just add a little salt and pepper to your turkey drippings gravy,

really spice it up with some herbs. Add parsley, thyme, rosemary and a little
white wine and really get your guests talking (and asking for more).
2) Rolls-
Yes, you add butter, ho-hum and boring.
This yr. add some finely chopped basil,  grated Parmesan, and add it to
melted butter, stir and when the rolls are done, brush this combo over your

just-out-of the oven rolls.
3) Rice-
Yes, gravy poured over rice is delicious, but this yr. make your rice extra special
by sauteeing a few pieces of chopped butternut squash and some chopped leaks
in a little butter or olive oil and then add them to the rice.
One more tip: make sure to really clean the leeks.
4) Cranberry sauce-
You can make your own or buy some. And if you're not to ambitious and want to

buy a can, add some thawed frozen strawberries and chopped apples (diced
into bit-sized pieces) or pears to the canned cranberry sauce.
5) Magic Mashed Potatoes-
There's "Magic Mike" and now there's "Magic Mashed Potatoes"
and if the gravy poured atop your potatoes is getting a little too boring
and tiresome, just tuck some sour cream, crumpled up bacon, (cooked)
and chopped scallions into your boiled potatoes.
6) Stuffed Stuffing-
Yes, cornbread or plain ole bread stuffing with celery, sausage, carrots,
onions and turkey drippings will most likely be on most tables, but

if you're the daring type and want a stuffing reminiscent of a fruitcake,
then by all means--go for it...Add seedless grapes, toasted chopped walnuts,
dried cherries, or slivered almonds.

And if you want even more- like how to fix burnt gravy, salty gravy,
mushy stuffing,  or under cooked turkey--head to Amazon.com/
the kindle store and download, see title below....

                            Coffee For A Leaner Figure!

Harry Styles of the "boy band" One Direction,
says the secret to his lean and trim figure is coffee.
Not just any coffee, but "Bullet-Proof" coffee.
What is bullet proof coffee?
Coffee that has some type of fat in it, fat like butter or coconut oil
or both.
And if you're thinking- "won't fat make me fat?"
NO!

And if you need proof, head to Youtube.com and check out
all of the Eat fat to lose weight videos.
And if you're at your ideal weight, then you may want to add more fat
to your diet anyways...

Why?
More good fat added to your diet will....

* help improve moods (especially important during the Winter months)
* boost energy levels

* boost intelligence levels (great for kids)
* decrease appetite and cravings (see Harry Styles)
* new discovery--help protect the brain from trauma

and help people recover from brain injuries (football players)
plus many more benefits...

So, if you're wondering how Mr. Styles maintains his figure,
wonder no more, it's fat in his coffee.
And if you want more information on bullet-proof coffee,
head to Google.com and type Bullet-Proof coffee in the search bar.
Good Luck!

A Horror Movie Rx For Better Night's Sleep!

                                          Improve Sleep With Scary Thoughts!

That's not a misprint, thinking scary thoughts can help you get to sleep and

stay asleep.
On this morning's edition of "Good Morning America" the host did another story on
sleep, or the importance of getting between 7 to 8 hours each night.
Anything less and you risk heart trouble, diabetes, certain cancers
(especially breast cancer) and a mushy middle. (middle-age spread)

And if you're in the less than 6 hours each night camp and want to change that,

then you better start thinking about something scary.
To do it--Just head to bed and let any thought, scary or unpleasant, (feuding

with a co-worker or family member also count) fill your mind.
Do this and in the future, give it (the thought) a time limit, (set a timer if you have to)
and after the time is up, tell yourself (I am done thinking about that scene from
that particular scary movie or my feud with my co-worker) and start to replace the

negative thinking with some positive thinking, like...
" I will get to sleep and stay asleep" or " that scene from that scary movie
won't keep me up".
Scientists theorize that trying to block or not think about negative thoughts
only makes falling asleep that much more difficult.
Plus, you may even dream about the negative movie scene or work situation.
So, if you've been hampered by anything negative and it's affecting your sleep,
try this simple technique.
And if you need more all-natural and healthy alternatives to help you
sleep, head to Amazon.com/the kindle store and type....

and see title to the right.
Learn a number of things like...
the perfect tea to help you sleep, a breathing technique,
yoga poses, and the foods that will help your body makes its own melatonin.
Hey, it's a heck of a lot cheaper and safer than Ambien.

Good Luck!
