Star's Potato Pancake Recipe For The Holiday Season!

                              A Delicious Treat For Hanukkah!

If you were a fan of "The Hanukkah Song" by Adam Sandler, you're in for a
big treat. What type of treat?

He's updated the song and re-released it, and if you do plan on listening to it,
why not make a great tasting meal to go along with the song.
And what type of meal would go great with the Hanukkah song?

Potato Pancakes with Smoked Salmon and a Hanukkah martini to wash it down,
of course.

So are you game?
Well if you're Jewish and love this type of food or if you're not Jewish
and just enjoy great tasting food, look below for the recipes and directions
to make this incredible tasting meal and drink.
First up, the recipe for potato pancakes.

The Double-Potato Pancake with Smoked Salmon!
Ingredients:
2 cups of grated and peeled sweet potatoes
(not a fan of sweet potatoes, use white potatoes)
1/2 cup grated onion
1 egg, beaten
3 Tbs. chopped fresh parsley and a few leaves for garnish
2 Tbs. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. black pepper
1/2 cup oil
1 package of Boursin Garlic and Fine Herb Cheese
1/2 cup sour cream
1 oz. sliced smoked salmon--cut into 16 thin strips
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Directions:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Press and drain excess liquid from the potatoes
and onions; transfer to a large bowl.
Stir in the egg, chopped parsley, cornstarch and the salt and pepper, until combined.

In a large nonstick skillet-heat 1/4 cup of oil over medium heat.
Working in batches, shape scant 1/4 cupfuls potato mixture into 1 3/4 inch wide patties.
Cook and when you start to see a light brown color on the patty turn it over.
about 4 to 5 minutes each side. Drain the patties on paper towels And just repeat the process

until all of the potato patties are gone. (add more oil if necessary)

And lastly, coat a jellyroll pan with cooking spray, and arrange the patties on the pan,
bake for 15 to 20 minutes,  or until cooked through. And to finish up this delectable
dish, stir the sour cream into the cheese and just before serving--top pancakes with
the cheese mixture, some pieces of salmon and a few parsley leaves (for garnish).
That's it for the potato pancakes, now onto the adult beverage.

The Hanukkah Martini!
Directions:

Fill an ice tray with Martini Gold Wildberry Martini mixer.
Freeze. Dip rims of 2 martini glasses into light corn syrup; dip into blue sugar.
Fill cocktail shaker with 1 cup plain ice cubes; add 1/4 each citrus vodka and
raspberry vodka. Cover; shake very well and strain into the glasses.
And finish it up by adding the mixer, the ice cubes and top it off with tonic water.
This is enough for 2 servings.
Important: look for the flavored vodkas at high-end liquor stores.

That's it- a meal that'll satisfy you whether you're Jewish, Christian,

Buddist, Muslim or non-believer, Enjoy!

Good Luck!

Adam Sandler's Rx To Prevent Cavities!

                 A Condiment To Prevent Cavities!

Adam Sandler has another movie coming out this weekend.
Surprisingly, the critics are giving it good reviews.
But, this post isn't about the Adam Sandler movie,
it's about a condiment.

You see, Adam Sandler is a proud Jew, and during a lot of
the Jewish holidays, (Seder and Passover) the Jewish people
use a lot of horseradish.

You know the unique smelling and tasting condiment,
well, it can boost your health in a number of ways.
Like...
a) Cancer Prevention-
1 tsp. of this condiment has the same cancer-fighting benefits
of cruciferous vegetables like Brussels sprouts, broccoli and cauliflower.
Horseradish contains compounds that help the liver flush out harmful
carcinogens from your body.

b) Sinuses-
Do your sinuses clog up? Use a little horseradish on a sandwich or potato

cake and open them (sinuses) right up.
c) Cleaner Teeth-
Want to prevent cavities and keep your teeth for yrs. and yrs?
Horseradish to the rescue. Horseradish contains compounds that block the
growth of cavity-causing bacteria.

So, take a break from ketchup and mustard for awhile and start
using some horseradish. And one more tip-  start with the mild brand
first, using the hot brand to start, may cause extreme discomfort,
(especially in the nostrils).

Good Luck!
