Glee's Rx For A Prosperous New Year!

A Prosperous and Healthier New Year!
Actress and Singer Lea Michele appeared on the "Tonight Show" with Jay Leno
last night. She and Jay talked about their Italian heritage and the dishes
their respective families eat. Ms. Michele, then went on to talk about foods
for the New Year. She said she and some members of her family eat 12 grapes
for the upcoming new year.
When Jay Leno asked her why 12? She replied "I don't know"!

Well, we at Red Carpet Rxs know- and the reason is- Some countries eat certain foods
to usher in the new year. They hope that by eating a certain food-they'll enjoy more health,
wealth and happiness.

If you or your family eats a particular dish, keep it up. And listed below are a
few of those countries and the foods they eat...
1) Spain- Ms. Michele is half Italian, but she eats 12 grapes like the Spaniards.
Why 12? Latins believe that if you eat 12sweet grapes at midnight-Dec. 31,
the sweeter the grapes, the better the grapes. And for the 12- Each grapes represents
a month.
2) Sicily- Ms. Michele mentioned that she was Italian, but she didn't say what
part of Italy, but Sicilians eat Lasagne. She also mentioned eating Lasagne, but
on Christmas. Switch it to New Year's Eve, Ms. Michele and you'll have a better
yr. than 2011.
3) Japan- If you guessed some type of noodle, you're right. But make them long
noodles. Long noodles for a longer stretch of health and wealth.
4) A Dutch Treat- Dutch people eat donuts. Why donuts, because they're sweet,
and hopefully you're yr. will be sweeter and the circle represents the completion
of the year's cycle and to usher in prosperity.

That's it - for now, tomorrow- some American food customs for more health,
wealth and happiness.

Good Luck!
