The Food Network's Barbecue Rx Just For Women!

                      Enjoy More Barbecue!

Ladies, are you fans of "The Food Network?"

Are you partial to Guy Fieri? Or is Rachael Ray
your favorite? Well, no matter whom you like,

you can learn a few things from each of the
hosts on the network.

The hosts may show you how to prepare a better tasting
burger, or how to make a cocktail that tastes like it
came from a high end restaurant in the South of France,
but can they teach you how summer grilling can improve

your health?
Improve your health? Yes, especially the health of a woman,
more specifically-breast health.

That's right- ladies, certain foods that you associate with
summer and barbecues, can do more than taste good,
they can keep breast cancer rates down.

Foods like...
a) Mustard-
Who doesn't love the yellow stuff all over a hot dog?
Well, that yellow stuff can stop potential cancer cells
from growing, while leaving healthy tissue unaffected.
Curcumin (which gives mustard that yellow color) is responsible
for shutting down cancer cells.
b) Black Pepper-

Add some black pepper to mustard and really shut down cancer
cells. Make a salad (potato) and add some pepper and mustard to it.
When combined, these spices turn each other into heat-seeking missiles,

targeting only cells that might be cancerous.
c) Sauerkraut-
Eat more of it and lower cancer rates. Popular in Poland, Germany
and South Korea (Kimchi) Fermenting the cabbage produces a powerful

cancer-fighting compound that helps prevent cancer cells from ever forming.
d) Marinate Your Meat-
Do you love the flames coming up through your grill?

If you do, you're increasing your odds of getting lung, colon and breast
cancer. To avoid this, either cook on low temperatures, or

marinate meat in a bowl with lemon juice, olive oil, garlic (fresh or powdered)
and beer for an hour. This helps form a protective wall around the meat,
shutting down production of cancer-causing chemicals called Heterocylic Amines.
Also helpful: have some beer (or wine) separately, it helps lower
blood pressure and boosts heart health.
e) Watch The Dogs-
As in hot dogs, this tip is for men much more than it is for women.
Eating foods high in salts and nitrates increases a man's risk of
prostate cancer by a lot. Look for chicken or turkey franks,
or try one from Healthy Choice or Applegate Farms beef franks.
Or just head to Youtube.com and type in how to make a veggie hot
dog in the search bar.
f) Onions-

One of the cheapest foods available today, and one of the most powerful.
Add to salads, or slice them and cook on the grill and lower breast
and prostate cancer (men) rates considerably.
f) More Mushrooms-

Trying to eat less red meat? Place some mushrooms on the grill.
Portobellos are almost like hamburger patties, and crimini mushrooms
(brown button) lower breast cancer rates by 30%.

Some outdoor grilling tips to help you live a little longer.

Good Luck!
